As soon as Autumn left, Lucas casually slung an arm over Keith’s shoulder, grinning mischievously.
“That time you asked me to call my grandfather in for a consult at First Light Hospital-it was for that girl, wasn’t it?
“She looks barely over twenty. How did someone that young end up with stomach cancer, and already at stage two p>
What he was really curious about was the nature of their relationship.
From the way they interacted, it definitely didn’t seem like they’d just met.
So, this guy had been hiding something all along.
If Lucas hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he never would’ve believed it-the untouchable iceberg had actually fallen for someone,

One look from Keith-sharp and dangerous-was enough to make Lucas back off instantly.
Alright, alright. If this guy didn’t want to talk, no amount of digging was going to get him to open up.

Keith watched Autumn’s retreating figure and suddenly said, “She’s the niece of the man who saved my life.
“Her uncle and mother have both passed away. And as for her two brothers-you saw for yourself how they treat her.
“She’s seriously ill, yet not only do her own family refuse to help her, they go out of their way to step on her p>
The girl was stronger than he’d expected.
After all the upheaval she’d gone through-the betrayal of the man beside her, then falling gravely ill-she could still face everything with optimism.
That really was admirable.
Lucas looked stunned for a moment, then nodded in understanding.
A girl so young, going through so much pain was pretty tragic.
What surprised him more was how much Keith had just said.
That guy was normally a man of very few words, practically allergic to talking.
And now he was breaking that silence for her.
