The thought jolted through me like a bolt of lightning.
I shot to my feet, “Carson! Do you have his contact info? I need to speak with him!” I asked urgently.
“Yes, I’ll find it for you!” Carson quickly fumbled for his phone, digging through his contacts until he found
the number.
Just as I had prepared to dial, shrill sirens split the quiet of the old house.
The doorbell followed, ringing sharp and relentless.
My heart lurched as Carson hurried to open the door.
Several uniformed officers from the shifter division stepped inside without invitation, wearing bulletproof
vests; their faces were grim. And behind them stood my cowardly three cousins.
“There she is, officers!” Sullivan rushed to point at me, gloating openly. “She’s carrying a gun illegally! She
has it filled with silver bullets, which are against the law unless you are an Alpha with a permit to carry.

Solomon chimed in, “That’s right! She aimed it at all of us-we can testify p>
The lead officer’s gaze cut to me like a blade. “Illegal possession of a firearm and/or silver bullets is a felony. Hand it over p>
I stood unmoving, my icy stare sweeping across their faces. My voice was calm but unyielding, every word
like iron.
“I can hand the gun over. But before that-” my eyes flashed to the three Reese devil-spawns, sharp as a dagger-” these three have trespassed, tried to seize property, and openly extorted me. Officers, are those not crimes under your jurisdiction p>

The lead officer’s face twitched briefly before hardening.
“That’s a separate matter. What’s right before us is the crime of illegal firearms possession with the threat of silver bullets. Stop wasting time. Hand it over now, or face punishment by law p>
The officers behind him stepped forward menacingly.
“You’re all in this together! You’re just a bunch of rogues in uniform!” Liyah shouted, pointing at them with fury. “Do you know who my family is? They will bury you in legal matters if you try to advance any further p>
“Hmph!” The lead officer dropped his pretense entirely, his eyes going cold. “Take her! If she resists, restrain her with extreme prejudice p>
Two police officers lunged. One clamped a brutal grip around my wrist while the other reached for my bag.

I fought back, pain shooting through my wrist. The scene spiralled out of control.
At that very instant, the roar of an engine thundered from outside, swallowing every sound.
The heavy door burst open, slammed wide by sheer force. A tall figure stood framed in the doorway,
shadowed in storm.
His voice, low and sharp with lethal chill, ripped through the room.
