People all around started whispering and pointing. But honestly, nobody had seen exactly what happened. No one realized that it was this woman who picked a fight with Calliope in the first place.
Since they hadn’t seen anything, everyone just assumed Calliope was bullying
her.
After all, the woman on the floor looked like a total mess-her dress soaked in wine, hair stuck to her cheeks, slumped against the side of the table. She’d taken a nasty fall, too, and there was a thin line of blood trickling down her arm from where some glass had cut her.

Calliope was honestly baffled.
Who was this chick? She and Silas were married. When had Silas ever had anything to do with her?
She couldn’t imagine Silas falling for someone like this. He wasn’t an idiot like Gideon, who couldn’t spot trouble if it bit him.
“No! You totally stole my boyfriend!” the woman insisted, her voice rising. “Silas, are you seeing this? She’s bullying me! She threw wine on me and shoved me on purpose p>
She turned, glaring at Silas for support.
Calliope almost wanted to give her a round of applause-she sure knew how to put on a show.
