Miles lays me on his bed carefully. I watch him as he begins to strip out of his clothes and my heart races. My eyes run up and down his perfectly sculpted torso. “I’m just from surgery, Miles, we can’t have sex p>
He sighs. “Well, we can do plenty of other stuff p>
“I’m still mad at you.” I frown. “I’m not doing anything with you until you explain yourself. First of all, why did you send Paul to come get me from the hospital? You should have come yourself p>
“But you got here, right?” He shrugs. “So what is the problem p>
“Well, it is a big deal to me. I know something changed from the time we went to the hospital to the time you grabbed my cousin p>
He bites his jaw but remains silent.
“Talk to me, Miles? What is the problem? What changed after the accident p>
He crosses his arms over his chest and his muscles flex. I’m certain he has no idea how sexy he looks standing over me half naked and scowling. His dark eyes glimmer with confusion. Between his brows is a little line. He stares at me for a few generous seconds then finally says, “I heard what you told Dalton before I entered the room p>
“What did you hear p>
He lifts his chin. “I got the clear impression that you are still pissed at the fact that I am still alive p>
“What?” I try to remember the things I said back when I was exchanging with Dalton. “When did I say that p>
He leans closer to me. “In the hospital.” His eyes glimmer with suspicion. “After all we have been through? You were just waiting for the perfect moment Arlo? Are you still that thirsty for my blood? You still want revenge that badly p>
I see how disgusted he is. I see that he is also hurt. That emotion makes my stomach turn and softens something inside of me. He is my alpha, but he doesn’t trust me. That isn’t how it should be. Out of everyone in the world, he should trust me most.
“I don’t want revenge anymore, Miles. It’s been a while since I did p>
“But that isn’t what you told Dalton p>
I narrow my gaze. “Miles, I don’t recall even half of what I said to Dalton. I was just blabbering shit because I thought I was going to die. I was only trying to stall him.” I sigh defeatedly. “I don’t want you dead p>
His face twitches but something about his expression is still dark and brooding.
“I promise.” I scowl. “Think about it, Miles. If I wanted you dead, would you be here right now p>
“You’re mine, Arlo. It is difficult to stay away from you.” His gaze drops.
I don’t want to hurt you, Miles. I’d be gutted if something happened to you p>
He looks at me. “Maybe you’re just saying that…for the sake of it p>
“I could lie to you if I wanted to. But I’m not lying now p>
Should I tell him about the pregnancy?
I wonder if the news of the pregnancy will make him loosen up a little or if it will make him uptight. Either way, he needs to know the truth. There’s a slim chance that knowing about the pregnancy will calm him down. Perhaps it would make him trust me. I don’t know, but it is worth a shot.
“Well, there’s something I need to tell you p>
“Okay.” He blinks rapidly.
“You’re probably gonna be happy.” I swallow thickly. “Or not p>
“Are you gonna tell me or should I guess p>
I let out a nervous laugh. “No. I’d rather tell you.” I clear my throat. “I…uhm…I’m pregnant p>
He goes still. “W..what p>
“I said exactly what you think I said p>
He moves towards the edge of the bed, his eyes pinned on my stomach. “You’re…you’re pregnant? W…with my child? “he asks quietly
I nod. “The doctor told me at the hospital.” I exhale shakily. “Are you shocked p>
“I mean…I guess I knew it could happen.” He rubs the back of his neck. “Now, that complicates everything p>
“Why p>
“Because p>
“Because what? You are paranoid and you think I’m going to kill you p>
“maybe.” He grimaces.
I laugh gruffly and hold out my hands. “Come here, Miles. I want to touch you p>
He furrows his brows. “I thought you were mad at me p>
“Well, you explained yourself and I understand you.” I purse my lips. “I forgive you for failing p>
He gazes at me for a few seconds then joins me on bed. He is shirtless, but still wearing his dress slacks. He advances at me like a panther approaching its prey and I smile.
I lay back on the bed against the pillows. My heart races as he lies down beside me, resting his head on my hand. He places his other hand on my stomach. Me swipes his palm over my belly and my dick grows hard. “Be careful of the stitches,” I whisper.
“Sorry.” He removes his hand immediately
I grab his hand and place it back on my belly. “I never said stop. I just said be careful p>
He begins to rub my stomach again in a subtle manner, eyes half open. His nose flares and he closes his eyes all the way. He begins to breathe slower and his tension seems to have faded away. I put my palm over him, and his eyes snap open again.
I smile at him hoping that he will return it, but he doesn’t. But at least his expression is warmer than it was earlier. “My feelings for you change every day. They grow stronger than before p>
“Mine too p>
“I didn’t see this coming, but I don’t plan on fighting it either.” I stroke the back of his palms gently with the tips of my fingers. “Do you still want to fight them, Miles p>
“No.” He responds immediately.
Something about his quick response pleases me. It gives me strength and courage. “I want you to be my alpha, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart.” I inhale the scent of his bare chest and shiver. “I don’t know why the universe paired us, but I now want us to be together. I’m okay with it now p>
“Are you p>
“Yes.” I meet his gaze and my pulse picks up. “Sasha won’t have to threaten me to be your omega. I’m doing it because I want you. I want to be your omega p>
“Well, you already are.” He inches closer to my face.
I graze his chin with my fingers. The look in his eyes makes slick ooze out of my hole. Never once have I had such a visceral reaction towards an alpha, now I know why I react to him like I do.
It’s because I belong to him.
My soul and body recognise him.
And now, my brain and heart do too.
He stares into my eyes for a beat then leans in. He kisses me softly, and I respond, opening my mouth to his searching tongue. I pull him on top of me and give him what he wants. Even so, I’m triple sure the doctor would strongly disapprove.
As if reading my mind, Miles pulls back.
