Richard and Sandra followed closely behind, their attitudes shifting completely. All smiles, their postures humble, they seemed to have transformed into entirely different people.
Once they were alone, they laid it on thick, saying every sweet thing they could think of. Since Maia remained silent and didn’t push back, they continued showering her with compliments. It was as if they had erased from their minds the fact that they had worked together to put Maia behind bars four years ago.
When Maia made her way back to the hall, the crowd quickly gathered around her. In no time, the spotlight was back on Maia.
