Furniture overturned, sunlight catching on broken glass scattered across the floor like fallen stars. The window had been smashed, the wind now sweeping freely through the room like a restless ghost. Rosanna sat slumped on the floor, drenched and disheveled. Her hair clung to her skin, her whole body trembling like a leaf in a storm. Her lips, bitten near to bleeding, twisted in alternating sobs and manic laughter.

Her skin turned ghostly pale and shriveled from hours of relentless scrubbing, but every time she stepped out, the urge to rush back in overwhelmed her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t seem to wash off the shame, the feeling of being exposed and judged.
Worse still, with each rinse, the sense of disgust only grew. Axell’s presence clung to her, sinking deeper than skin, haunting her from the inside out.
