The door slammed shut behind her, the sound echoing in the quiet apartment.
Chris stood frozen, staring at the untouched plate of eggs and toast on the tray.
At the reception desk of the MCN, Richard sat on the floor at the entrance, completely ignoring the shocked, confused, or mocking stares of those around him. He tore off his tie and started throwing a tantrum.
“Is this any way to treat a visitor? Do you even have a clue who I am? If anyone tries to lay a hand on me again, I’ll throw myself off the roof! Get Maia out here right now! Let her face me and say what she needs to say! If the Morgan family hadn’t raised her, do you think she’d have made it this far p>
Pattie planted herself in the doorway, folding her arms and releasing a heavy sigh. For the first time in years, she finally understood what it felt like to have reason on her side, yet not a single person cared to listen.
Earlier, Pattie had told Richard point-blank that Maia was on her way and urged him to sit down and wait quietly near the door. Richard wanted none of it. He accused her of hiding Maia inside, tried to force his way in, and hurled insult after insult, calling Maia an ungrateful brat.
