Gordon couldn’t believe what he was seeing. With a look of utter disdain, he tossed the book at Skyler. “What is this nonsense? I only read finance books p>
He wasn’t the kind of person who’d just read anything.
Skyler hurriedly grabbed the book. “Uncle, I’m serious! I’ve read this one myself, it really works! The stuff in here is gold for getting a girl’s attention. Just try it and you’ll see p>
Gordon shot him a glare. “Do you think I’m like you? Always wasting time on this kind of pointless stuff p>
Chasing after girls was the last thing on his mind.
And there was no way he’d read a book about it.
“Come on, Uncle, just hang on to it,” Skyler insisted, shoving the book back into Gordon’s hand. “You might actually learn something useful p>
Gordon held the book for a moment, then shrugged.
With a flick of his wrist-

The book sailed neatly through the air and landed perfectly in the trash can across the room, a good ten feet away.
Not a centimeter off.

With that, Skyler left the gym.
Gordon picked up his dumbbells and went right back to working out.

Skyler shook his head. “Chucked it in the trash p>
Alaina let out a frustrated sigh. “Honestly, he’s hopeless. If he doesn’t know how to chase a girl, fine, but when someone gives him a tip, he just throws it away p>
That’s right.
Alaina was the one who’d asked Skyler to pass the book along to Gordon. She hadn’t expected him to be so ungrateful.
Beatrice appeared beside them. “Oh, come on, Alaina, you’re so old-fashioned! What is this, the Middle Ages? You still believe in ‘marry the guy who saves your life p>
Caitlin had saved Gordon once, and Beatrice was genuinely grateful.
But as for a future daughter-in-law?

The gym.
An hour later, Gordon finished his workout and was heading back to his room for a shower.
But as he reached the door, he paused, as if remembering something. He turned to look at the trash can, his eyes dark and unreadable.
He hesitated for a few seconds.
Then made his way over, bent down, and fished the book-The Straight Guy’s Guide to Flirting-out of the trash before leaving the gym.
Back in his room, Gordon tossed the book onto his desk and went to shower.
About ten minutes later, he emerged, towel around his waist, rubbing his hair dry with one hand while picking up The Straight Guy’s Guide to Flirting with the other, flipping through it absentmindedly.
He’d only meant to skim it, to see what kind of ridiculous advice it had.
But before he knew it, he was hooked.
He forgot all about drying his hair, turning page after page, his brows furrowing in concentration.
Thunk.
At that moment, the door opened.
But Gordon was so absorbed in the book, he didn’t hear a thing.
Footsteps approached, then Skyler’s voice called out, “Uncle, what are you doing
in there? Dinner’s ready! Come downstairs p>
Gordon startled at the sudden voice, snapping the book shut and stuffing it under his comforter in a flash. He looked up at Skyler, doing his best to appear completely innocent, eyes narrowed in feigned annoyance.
