The Richards family had always been blessed with sons, but never daughters.
Theodore and his wife were determined to have a girl. They tried three times- three pregnancies, three boys.
They’d even considered a fourth child, clinging to hope. In their desperation, they sought out a renowned spiritual advisor. After a solemn reading, he told them their fates simply didn’t include daughters. That put an end to their plans for a fourth try.
“I’m nineteen-almost twenty,” Caitlin answered.
Nineteen.
The age matched up.
Jade wanted to ask a few more questions, but considering this was their first meeting, she thought better of prying into anything too personal.
Just then, Irene called to check if Caitlin had arrived.
Jade picked up. “Irene, don’t worry, we’ve already picked up Dr. Kensington p>
“Oh, that’s wonderful,” Irene said, relief in her voice. “I’m already at the airport. I should be at Neon Spire Airport by about one in the afternoon p>

The hotel wasn’t far from the hospital.
They arrived in no time.
After parking, Warren hurried out to open Caitlin’s door, reminding her, “Please watch your step, Dr. Kensington p>

Warren then offered his hand to help Jade out of the car.
The three of them headed inside.
As they walked, Caitlin asked about Hannah’s current condition.

health. Sure, she’d get the occasional headache or fever, but who doesn’t? That’s life. I never imagined that one simple fall would leave her completely unconscious p>

“She fell the night before last p>
Caitlin nodded thoughtfully. “Does she have any underlying conditions? Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol-anything like that p>
Jade shook her head. “She goes for regular checkups. No diabetes, no high cholesterol, nothing like that. But this year, her blood pressure’s been a bit unpredictable-sometimes high, sometimes low p>
At that moment, Kelvin was just about to take the elevator up to check on Hannah. As the doors slid open, he spotted Warren and Jade approaching with a young woman in tow.
The girl was striking. She wore a simple black trench coat, but something about her made it hard to look away.
Years of hospital work had exposed Kelvin to countless beautiful women-many of whom had clearly had a little professional help. As a doctor and a perfectionist, he could always spot the subtle tweaks. But this girl-Caitlin-was untouched, natural. He’d never seen anyone quite like her.
Not only was she beautiful, but her presence was rare, almost otherworldly.
Judging by the company, she must be a relative of the Richards family.
Kelvin greeted Warren and Jade respectfully, then asked, “Weren’t you both going to pick up Dr. Kensington p>
“Yep, and we’ve brought her,” Warren replied with a nod.

Kelvin looked surprised. “So where is Dr. Kensington p>
Jade smiled. “Dr. Fairchild, let me introduce you this is Dr. Caitlin Kensington p>
Kelvin was momentarily stunned.
Her? This young woman?
For a moment, he thought he’d misheard. It took him several seconds to process, then he turned to Caitlin, searching her face.
