Headache?
Ann narrowed her eyes, suspicion flickering across her face.
How could Hannah suddenly have a headache for no reason?
She didn’t even need to guess-Caitlin must have upset her again.
Jade’s voice was immediately tight with anxiety. “Mom, are you alright? Should I call the doctor to come take a look at you p>
“I’m fine,” Hannah replied. “I just need to lie down for a bit. A nap will do me good p>
Ann listened and grew even more certain-Hannah’s headache was absolutely Caitlin’s fault.
Otherwise, why wouldn’t she even want to see a doctor?
Caitlin really had no self-awareness.
Ann stood up, her tone gentle as she offered, “Grandma Hannah, I learned a bit of massage last year from one of my instructors. Why don’t I give you a shoulder rub? It’ll help you feel a lot better p>
“That’s not necessary,” Hannah declined politely.
Ann’s lips curled in a small, satisfied smile.
Hannah was refusing, but Ann could tell it was out of concern that she might get tired. After all, the whole Richards family was eager to match her with Daniel-she was expected to be their future granddaughter-in-law.
Caitlin returned to the hotel.
That afternoon, she and Celeste had gone out on a yacht, explored the aquarium, and visited all the city’s must-see attractions.
That evening, back in her hotel room, Celeste’s phone buzzed with a WhatsApp message. Her cheerful expression instantly faded. “Catie, it’s from my mom. My grandma back home was just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She got lost yesterday and still hasn’t been found. I need to book the soonest flight back p>
“Of course,” Caitlin said at once. “Let’s pack up and leave tonight p>
“Catie, you don’t have to come with me. Besides, don’t you have to wait for the Richards family’s DNA results p>
Caitlin and Celeste told each other everything. She hadn’t kept the paternity test a secret.
“I’m not waiting. It’s all up in the air anyway. If the results come back positive, the Richards will reach out to me,” Caitlin said. “We came to Neon Spire together- I’m not letting you go back alone p>
Celeste hugged Caitlin tightly, a wave of emotion in her voice. “Thank you, Catie. You’re honestly an angel p>
They packed their things and headed straight for Silverhaven.
In her rush, Caitlin shot off a quick WhatsApp message to Jade.
9 PM.
Caitlin sat in the departure lounge, idly scrolling through her phone. She posted a photo of the airport and a simple update:

At the same time, Gordon Sylvester was lounging in bed, idly checking his social feed.
Caitlin had been posting updates every day during her trip.
Right on schedule, another post popped up-
“Heading back to the city p>
Gordon’s brows lifted in surprise.
She’s coming back?
He immediately switched apps and texted his assistant:
**Check all flights from Neon Spire to Silverhaven tonight p>
The reply was prompt.
**Sir, there’s only one flight tonight. It departs at 9:30 and lands at Silverhaven Airport at 11:50 p>
Gordon considered this for a moment.
At exactly 10 PM, he left Sylvester Gardens.
Dowager Beatrice Sylvester was just coming downstairs. When she spotted
Gordon with his car keys, she called out, “Gordon, where are you heading at this hour p>
“Something came up at the office,” he replied smoothly.
Beatrice opened her mouth to ask more, but Gordon was already out the door.
11:50 PM. The plane touched down right on time.
By the time Caitlin and Celeste collected their luggage, it was nearly 12:20 in the morning.
Dragging their suitcases, they chatted quietly as they made their way to the exit. “Catie p>
A surprised voice called out from the side just as they reached the doors.
Caitlin glanced up, startled. “Gordon? What are you doing here p>
Gordon replied without missing a beat, “I was supposed to pick up a client, but they canceled last minute. Didn’t expect to run into you here. Since I’m already here, why don’t I give you a ride home p>
