The slender silver needle sank precisely into an acupoint on Old Mr. Lancaster’s leg.
As it settled, the end of the needle seemed to vibrate faintly.
She had moved without any warning.

happened, he tensed up. Then, just as he thought she was still talking, she inserted the needle
mid-sentence.
