She flashed them a sweet smile before she left.

After she left the office, Dorothea went straight to the dealership and picked up a white X3. Honestly, it felt a little embarrassing to admit she’d bought it on a loan, but now that she was a department director, taking the subway didn’t feel right anymore. When Latham got home, he immediately noticed the new white sedan parked in the garage.

Latham raised his eyebrows. “I’ve got several cars in the garage. You could have just picked one to use p>
Her car was probably worth, what, forty grand at most? He thought it seemed a bit cheap.
Dorothea shook her head right away. “Mr. Stephens, your cars are way too expensive p>
The cheapest one in his garage was at least half a million. Driving any of those would be way too showy.
She didn’t want people at work to look down on her just because of her age. If she wanted to be taken seriously, she had to keep things steady and low-key, even with her choice of car.

Then he pulled a small gift box from his pocket. “Here. A ring for you. It’s a wedding ring p>
Dorothea’s heart skipped a beat.
A wedding ring… She’d almost forgotten they were married.
She opened the box to find a dazzling diamond ring sparkling under the light. Just by looking at it, she could tell it cost a fortune.
