“Latham Pauline’s eyes lit up with recognition. “Dorothea, how long have you and Latham been together? Are you two thinking about getting married soon p>
Dorothea felt a twinge of helpless amusement but kept her expression upbeat. “Grandma, we’re already married. Once you’re feeling better, I’ll bring you home. You’ve been living with us this whole time, remember? You just forgot p>
“Really?” Pauline frowned as she tried to recall, but the thought of living with Dorothea made her smile. “Alright. I’ll do whatever you say, dear p>
Three days later, after a final checkup, the doctors agreed that Pauline was well enough to go home. Her recovery was nothing short of a miracle.
Dorothea carefully wrote down all the aftercare instructions and brought Pauline back to their place.
With Grandma moving in, Latham took Garth back to Scott’s place. Neither of them had the energy to look after a kid right now.
Garth left reluctantly, making Latham promise to save his room so he could come over on weekends.
Dorothea had Linda set up a cozy room just for Grandma, complete with a dedicated caregiver to help at night.
Because of Grandma’s return, Dorothea and Latham had to temporarily share the master bedroom.
“Grandma, try some of Linda’s cooking. How’s this egg and shrimp custard?” Dorothea scooped a little into Pauline’s bowl.
Pauline tasted it and smiled. “This is delicious. I have to say, living with you two is pure happiness for an old lady like me p>

Pauline nodded, accepting that Dorothea and Latham were married now. Then she glanced over curiously. “Latham, how many kids are you planning to have with Dorothea p>
Whatever emotional moment Dorothea had been feeling vanished in an instant. She blushed, flustered. “Grandma, we haven’t really thought about that yet p>
“Why not?” Pauline looked at her with all the seriousness of a grandmother. “Dorothea, it’s best to have children while you’re young Recovery is easier. I’ve been through it, know better than anyone p>
She suddenly eyed Latham across the table, then leaned in close to Dorothea,
lowering her voice. “Tell me honestly, is Latham… not up to it p>
Pauline might have thought she was whispering but everyone in the room heard her loud and clear, including Tessa, the caregiver, and Linda.
The silence was thick with awkwardness.

That evening, after helping Tessa tuck Grandma into bed, Dorothea lingered in the hallway, not sure how to face Latham. Instead, she grabbed a bottle of fruit wine from the fridge and slipped out to the terrace, sipping quietly under the night sky.
For a moment, she felt completely at peace.
Grandma was healthy again, things were back to normal, and her little world felt whole.
Then she sensed someone behind her, a cool presence drawing close. Latham’s tall form cast a shadow over her as he leaned in, voice soft and teasing.
