When Sebastian arrived, his grandfather had already been sent to the intensive care unit.
Inside the room, Jared sat at the bedside while Foster lounged on the sofa playing on his phone. When he saw Sebastian walk in, he glanced up briefly.
Jared lowered his voice. “When your grandpa was taken into the operating room, he kept calling your name. He just wanted to see you, maybe afraid he wouldn’t get the chance again p>
Sebastian walked to the bed and looked down at the old man. His face was pale, lacking its usual flush, and he looked much thinner than before.
Jared continued. “It’s nothing too serious. At his age, there are always health problems here and there. Luckily, he was rescued in time. The doctors said as long as he rests quietly, he’ll recover p>
Sebastian nodded, then sat down on the sofa beside Foster. He looked at Jared and asked, “Grandpa’s always been healthy. How did he suddenly fall ill this time p>
“Actually, he hasn’t been in the best health for a while, but he didn’t want you to worry, so he never told you. This time it’s mostly because of Elsa. She’s not young anymore, and your grandpa was anxious, so he arranged blind dates for her. But she didn’t like a single one of them. In the end they argued, and he got so worked up that he collapsed p>
At that, Foster immediately retorted, “My sister already has someone she likes. Of course she wouldn’t like any of those people. You just don’t agree.” His voice lost strength toward the end.
Jared’s expression darkened. “How could someone like that marry your sister? He’s just a poor painter. What future could he possibly have? If your sister marries him, her life will be ruined p>
“That’s art, and I heard he’s already a little known. In a few years, who knows, maybe he’ll be famous. You’re just blinded by vanity,” Foster shot back.
Jared sneered. “A few years? He could have twenty and still accomplish nothing. Famous? Don’t make me laugh. Shut up, and try to convince your sister to give up on these thoughts as soon as possible. I will never agree, not even if I die p>
Foster fell silent, pulled out his phone again, and went back to his game.
Jared let out a heavy sigh.
Sebastian leaned lazily against the sofa. “If it’s inconvenient for you, give me that man’s information. I’ll have him investigated. If this keeps turning into arguments, Elsa will only grow more rebellious p>
Jared nodded helplessly. He never thought his usually obedient daughter would be so stubborn about this.
Since his grandpa wouldn’t be waking up anytime soon, Jared told Sebastian and Foster to go home first while he stayed to keep watch.
“I’ll stay,” Sebastian said quietly. “You’ve been tired all day too p>
“No, you both go back. There’s a companion bed here. I can rest on that tonight. You rushed back today and must be exhausted. Just come tomorrow p>
