Eda watched their departing backs, her eyes darkening, her clenched fists turning white at the knuckles.
Since Natalie still had class in the afternoon, the two of them found a restaurant near the school.
They chose a window seat. As soon as they sat down, Natalie exclaimed excitedly, “Lillian, you were amazing just now! You shut Eda up so completely she couldn’t even talk back. Didn’t you see how ugly her face got? That was priceless.
“You have no idea how arrogant she’s been while you were gone. She was crowned the new school flower, and her little followers badmouthed you constantly. They said all kinds of terrible things-that you’d been kidnapped, that you’d-well, you name it, they said it p>
