Chapter 25
Mino soon brought dinner inside. Tonight’s meal was twice-cooked pork, dry-pot fish, and a soup made with wild greens.
Sal lifted his head and glanced at Mino. There was no contract mark on him—so he wasn’t the shameless female’s beast husband after all.
He twitched his little nose. A rich, mouthwatering aroma drifted from the dishes on the table. He’d already smelled it earlier, but it was far stronger now.
It smelled incredible—and it looked delicious too.
Staring at the meat while inhaling the fragrance, Sal swallowed despite himself.
Nina noticed how the “little kitty” was practically drooling and felt hopeful.
She picked up a piece of fish and waved it in front of him.
“Little kitty, do you want to eat p>
Sal’s eyes followed the fish back and forth, saliva pooling in his mouth again.
He hadn’t eaten in a long time. He was starving. He really, really wanted it.
Reluctantly, Sal nodded his small head.
Nina’s eyes lit up.
“You can eat it—but from now on, you have to let me pet you, hold you, and behave properly. No tantrums p>
She brought the fish even closer.
“If you agree, I’ll give you this—and there’ll be even tastier food later p>
Sal’s little ears drooped, his eyes filled with grievance and fury.
This shameless female was too wicked—always trying to take advantage of him.
But in the end, he couldn’t resist the temptation of food. With a face full of humiliation, he agreed to this utterly disgraceful and unequal treaty.
When Nina saw him nod, she was overjoyed and beckoned him closer.
“Come here p>
Sal obediently walked over.
Nina scooped the “little kitty” into her arms and sat down at the table.
Mino watched the kitten being cradled in Nina’s arms with open jealousy. He wanted to be held too.
This “cat cub” really was lucky—surviving injuries like that.
Smiling brightly, Nina held the fish to Sal’s mouth.
“Try it—see if you like it p>
She was already planning to switch to raw meat or cat food if he didn’t.
Sal immediately opened his mouth and rolled the fish inside. The moment he tasted it, his eyes flew open.
It was delicious.
He finished it in seconds, then looked straight at Nina—his meaning obvious: Hurry up and give me more.
Seeing how much he liked it, Nina fed him two or three more pieces.
Mino frowned.
“Nina, stop feeding him. Let him eat on his own. You should eat—you’re hungry too p>
“Okay p>
Nina placed fish and wild boar meat onto a small plate and set the “little kitty” on the table.
“I won’t feed you anymore. Eat by yourself p>
Then she took the new chopsticks Mino handed her and began eating.
Sal didn’t mind at all. He buried his little head in the plate and ate happily.
Soon, the plate was empty.
He stared at Nina, then pointed his paw at the fish and boar meat on the table.
Nina gave him another plate.
Less than three minutes later—empty again. The paw pointed once more.
Nina refilled it.
A short while later… the paw came again.
After several rounds, Mino couldn’t take it anymore.
“Nina, stop indulging him. If you keep feeding him, you won’t have enough yourself. You need to eat properly—the cub in your belly matters more p>
Mino knew exactly how much Nina could eat. He had cooked extra to make sure she was full—but today, this “cat cub” was eating far too much. Even giving up his own portion, there still wouldn’t be enough.
Sal was about to protest—ready to swat that stingy male—when he heard the words “the cub in your belly p>
He froze.
Slowly, he looked at Nina’s stomach.
Her clothes were loose, but there was clearly a noticeable curve—it wasn’t small.
How had he missed it earlier? It must have been because this shameless female kept distracting him.
She was pregnant?
Judging by the size, probably over two months.
That male wasn’t her beast husband—so could the cub be his?
He really was impressive—getting her pregnant in one go.
The thought left Sal shocked, thrilled, and completely at a loss.
He stared at Nina’s belly, emotions surging chaotically inside him.
Was this little female carrying his cub?
Was he… going to be a father?
But how was a father supposed to act?
He was a wandering beast. He had no father or mother—he’d grown up alone. He had no idea what an “A-father” was meant to be.
Sal felt both joy and anxiety.
He looked at Nina again. Since she carried his cub, he decided he would treat her better from now on—he would provide for her and their little one properly.
He pushed the plate away with his paw and shook his head to show he was done eating.
Even though he wasn’t full, he wanted to leave the meat for her and the cub.
Nina looked down at the “little kitty,” surprised.
“Didn’t you want more just now? Are you really full p>
Sal nodded.
All of it is for you and our cub. A male can survive missing a few meals.
Seeing that he truly wouldn’t eat anymore, Nina stopped worrying and continued her own meal.
Watching Nina eat so heartily, Sal suddenly felt something warm and swelling in his chest—an unfamiliar sensation.
After finishing, Nina picked up the “little kitty” again and leaned against the head of the bed to rest.
Because he had so many wounds, she only dared gently stroke the healthier areas, like the back of his neck.
Once Sal stopped resisting, he realized the feeling was completely different. Those soft little hands were… actually quite comfortable.
He narrowed his eyes, looking faintly pleased.
Mino watched the scene with mixed bitterness and irritation. If he’d known this would happen, he never would have brought this “stinking cat cub” back—it stole Nina’s food and all her attention.
He glanced at Sal and said,
“Nina, wild cat cubs are noisy at night. Let him sleep on my side tonight p>
A cold glint flashed in Sal’s eyes.
This filthy male wants to keep me away from my female and my cub. Once I recover, I’ll be the first to kill him.
Trying to take my place? In your next life.
With him around, no other male would ever get close to her again.
Sal clutched Nina’s clothes with his paw, rubbed his head against her, and—swallowing his pride—let out a couple of soft “meow” sounds, telling her he was well-behaved, that he wouldn’t make noise, and that he didn’t want to go to that annoying male.
Nina seemed to understand and said to Mino,
“It’s fine. He probably won’t cause trouble. If he does, you can take him away then p>
Sal lifted his little leopard head in Nina’s arms and shot Mino a provocative look.
Mino ground his teeth in frustration—angry, yet helpless.
