Samantha stood at the airport entrance, watching Trista walk through security without a backward glance. The jealousy she felt was almost suffocating.
Trista was years younger and physically more striking.
Samantha was draped in designer labels, wearing limited–edition accessories from her earrings to her heels, but standing next to Trista, she looked desperate and cheap.
Trista, even in simple clothes, moved with natural grace. The moment she met your eyes, the inherent Alpha bloodline in her posture was enough to claim the space.
She was the direct daughter of the Silverlight Alpha, blessed by the Moon Goddess herself–a noble bloodline.
Even with Silverlight bankrupt, their land auctioned off, and their crest in hock, she had grown up cherished by her parents. That born–in composure and superiority was something a rogue without pack protection could never attain.
Samantha knew this well. And that fueled her hatred.
She clenched her fists and left the airport.

Cassian listened quietly, not immediately reacting.
He walked patiently to Attwater, placed one hand on the boy’s shoulder, and applied gentle pressure, forcing him to look up. “Say that again–anywhere else you’re hurt p>
Attwater snapped his head away, grabbed Cassian’s wrist, and jerked his shoulder, breaking free.
Beta Humphrey, standing by the door, quickly wiped sweat from his forehead.
If Cassian hadn’t been fast enough to block it, Attwater’s punch would have landed squarely on his face.
Cassian acted as if the interruption hadn’t happened. He gave Humphrey a subtle glance.

Cassian defended, never fighting back seriously.
But they were mismatched in strength and size. After a few exchanges, Cassian pinned Attwater back into the chair, gripping both wrists firmly.
The chair scraped the floor faintly. The boy’s angry gasps were loud in the silent office.
