Isaiah reached into the cluster of expensive hydrangeas and precisely plucked out a few stems of dark purple flowers.
He crushed a petal between his fingertips. “Are you here to make peace, or are you here to commit a murder p>
Samantha stared at the purple monkshood, her pupils shrinking in panic.
To humans, it was just a decorative flower, but to a werewolf, its scent paralyzed the senses, and its pollen was lethal.
She had planned to use the bouquet to make Trista violently ill, but she hadn’t expected this Alpha’s senses to be so terrifyingly sharp.
“The florist must have made a mistake…” Samantha stammered, her voice barely a whisper as she tried to cover up her attempt on Trista’s life.

By the time Trista walked out of her clinic, the hallway was empty.

After hanging up, Isaiah looked up at the sky, where Samantha was screaming her lungs out mid–air. He picked at his ear, looking annoyed.

A few hours later, an ambulance shrieked to a halt at the ER entrance.
Samantha was practically catatonic when they hauled her off the stretcher.
Cassian, who had just arrived at the healing center to find Trista, ran right into the chaos.
Samantha caught his scent in the crowd and let out a desperate, raspy cry for help.

The medical staff’s expressions turned judgmental, and they shifted to block Cassian’s path, essentially forcing him to follow the gurney.

Cassian turned around, his voice low. “What are you doing here p>
“Just checking to see if she’s still breathing,” Isaiah said bluntly.
Cassian stepped back and pushed the door open, signaling Isaiah to come inside.

A flash of lethal, predatory rage flickered in Isaiah’s eyes. The temperature in the room plummeted as he released his full aura.
“She tried to give Trista wolfsbane. She wanted to fry Trista’s scent glands, Cassian, the only reason I didn’t rip her throat out is because I was trying to show you a little respect p>
