Edwin was backed into a corner with nowhere to go. He quickly barked at his omega maid to fetch another two hundred thousand, trying to settle the mess the only way he knew how–the crude, “L.A. money” way.
Cassian stepped forward, flanking Trista as his expression turned lethal.
His voice carried the icy arrogance of an Ironthorn ruler. “Alpha Edwin, do you really think a former Luna of the Ironthorns has any use for your scraps of paper p>
The room went silent.
Cassian was making a public declaration: even if the bond was broken, Trista was still under his protection p>
Edwin started sweating. He looked back and forth between them, testing the waters. “Alpha Cassian, what exactly are you looking for then? Name a price p>
Before Cassian could answer, Trista took control of the conversation. “Since Alpha Cassian, the Fernandez family, and the rest of L.A. are all listening, let’s settle some scores right now. I’m tired of people using me as a pin cushion p>
She swept a cold gaze over Cassian before locking onto Thomasina, George, and Angela. Her eyes were sharp.
“Luna Thomasina, let me make this very clear for everyone: your niece, Samantha, is a convicted murderer. She is in a cell because she belongs there p>
Thomasina’s face went pale.
In the wolf world, reputation is everything. Having Samantha’s criminal record aired out in public was a direct slap to the entire Fernandez bloodline.
Trista’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “And since you love your niece so much, let’s take a walk down memory lane. After Howard kicked her out, she tried to drug an Alpha abroad to trap him into a marriage with an unborn pup. He didn’t take the bait, and she ended up on the streets with a domestic abuser. When she finally slinked back to L.A., she was more than happy to play the role of a desperate side–piece p>
She was stripping away every last bit of Samantha’s dignity. Thomasina looked like she wanted to crawl

“I was actually going to let her have him,” Trista continued, her voice turning razor–sharp. “But unfortunately for her, as soon as the bond between Cassian and me broke, she got locked in a cage. I guess she just wasn’t destined for the Ironthorns p>
Thomasina stood frozen, her nails digging into her palms, forced to maintain her “Luna poise ” while the room watched her crumble.
“Cassian is the one who put her in prison. He’s the one who clipped her wings, not me,” Trista stated, her tone shifting to a command.

Edwin’s face was a masterpiece of conflicting emotions.
He shot Thomasina a look of pure, repressed fury before forcing himself to play the diplomat. “Alpha Cassian, Dr. Holmes… this was a massive oversight on my mate’s part. Please, let’s cool off. I’ll make sure to offer a formal apology to both of you very soon p>
Trista knew exactly what was happening. An old–school Alpha like Edwin only bowed because of the combined pressure of Cassian, Xander, and Fred.
