She looked up at him, her eyes like frozen glass. “Cassian, I would rather die in the middle of a pack war than ever look back at you p>
Cassian let go of her abruptly. His eyes were shot through with a terrifying red, like he was seconds away from a full shift.
His Alpha energy–pure, chaotic rage–flooded the SUV, making the air feel heavy enough to choke on.
“Trista,” he demanded, his voice dropping to a dark, dangerous low. “I’m asking you one last time. Cut hings off with Elias. End it. Now p>

She didn’t even let him finish before shutting him down.
As their eyes locked, the absolute, dead–end finality in her gaze finally snapped the last thread of Cassian’s sanity.

Before she could blink, the engine roared to life. He clamped one hand onto the back of her neck and gripped the steering wheel with the other.
He slammed on the gas, and the car lunged forward like an arrow, tearing through the night and hurtling toward the highway.

The Private Hangar.
It was nearly dawn when Trista scrambled out of the car, instantly recognizing the Ironthorn’s high security private hangar. Nearby, the rotors of a helicopter were already screaming, the deafening rat threatening to shatter her eardrums.
Humphrey stood by the cabin door with a line of pack guards, waiting in silence
Trista felt a chill run through her entire body. Was he taking her out of LA Was he actually going to lock her up?

Cassian didn’t say a word. His dark, glowing eyes stayed pinned on her as he grabbed her wrist with a grip like steel, dragging her toward the helicopter.
Realizing she couldn’t break free, Trista dropped to the ground, trying to anchor herself.
Cassian was forced to stop to avoid hurting her, his massive frame looming over her like a mountain.
“It’s the middle of the night!” she screamed over the rotors. “What are you doing? This dictator act is only making me hate you more p>
Cassian bent down, forcing her back onto her feet.
He wrapped one arm around her waist and hooked the other behind her neck, forcing her to look him in the eyes. His bloodshot, feral pupils searched hers.
Tell me,” he rasped, the words sounding like they were being ripped out of his chest. “What do you see in Elias? What does he have that I don’t? ”
He was vibrating with jealousy–the raw, territorial madness of a beast defending its home.
