That evening, Cassian touched down in Los Angeles.
The second he landed, his parents whisked him back to the Ironthorn estate.
Howard immediately issued a formal family decree: Cassian was to hand over the pack’s corporate assets and head overseas for a “rest” immediately.
Cassian didn’t blink before refusing.
He looked at his family with a stone face. “I’m fine. You’re overreacting p>
“Cassian, just listen to Grandpa for once,” Wynn cut in, unable to keep quiet.
Cassian shot his sister a warning look. The sheer aura of a High Alpha radiated off him, effectively shutting her up.
“It’s just a stomach issue,” he said flatly. “Recovery takes time. I know my own body better than anyone p>
He didn’t mention the agonizing pain clawing at his chest or the severe insomnia that was eating his mind alive.
Alaina, looking gaunt and exhausted, pointed a trembling finger at him. “Let your father step back into the Alpha role for the business. Cassian, you have to go to the healing center for mandatory treatment. Have you thought about what happens to Ironthorn if something happens to you? What happens to us? ”
Cassian went silent for a moment before offering a single concession. “Mom, if it makes you feel better, let Wynn keep tabs on me. I’ll eat on a schedule and go for regular checkups. Is that enough p>

Howard’s cane slammed into the floor, a dull boom that signaled his fading patience.
“Listen to me, Cassian,” Howard said, his voice dark. “If anything happens to you, I’ll make sure the entire Silverlight pack is buried with you p>
“Grandpa!” Wynn gasped. “ Are you crazy? What does Silverlight have to do with this p>
Alaina finally snapped. She turned her fury on Howard. “The only reason Cassian is like this is because of your obsession with control! And now you want to solve it with more violence? Do you actually want to kill him? ”
Cassian’s face was almost translucent. He looked Howard in the eye and said, “Grandpa, you’re going to regret this p>
The second the words left his mouth, a bolt of white–hot pain scared through his chest. He grit his teeth, turned on his heel, and strode toward the bathroom.

The air in the living room turned to lead.
A few minutes later, Wynn was the first to realize something was wrong. “Why hasn’t he come out yet p>
The family’s expressions shifted instantly. They rushed to the bathroom.
Wilmot shoved the door open to find Cassian at the sink, washing his face.
Seeing them crowding the door, Cassian calmly grabbed a towel, dried his face, and pulled the door shut behind him.
His face was entirely devoid of color, but his tone was like ice. “I told you, I’m fine. Stop following me p>
Once he walked away, Wynn slipped into the bathroom.
Just as she feared, she found several crumpled tissues at the bottom of the trash can–all of them soaked in bright, fresh blood.
Alaina nearly collapsed at the sight.
Wilmot stumbled, leaning against the wall for support.
Howard stared at the bloody tissues in silence before turning away, his back looking more hunched than
ever as he walked back to his room.
The next morning, Trista arrived at the healing center to a call from Xander.
When she reached the Director’s office, Xander was waiting outside. He gave her a helpless, apologetic look. “Howard is inside p>
Trista nodded.
If the old lion of Ironthorn had come personally, there was no dodging it.
She walked into the lounge and sat across from Howard.
A heavy tea table sat between them in a dead silence.
Trista didn’t speak first; she just met his gaze with a calm, level stare.
Howard signaled to the omega behind him, who slid a thick folder across the table to her.
Trista glanced down. The title at the top read: Equity Transfer Agreement.
“This represents fifteen percent of the Ironthorn Pack’s total shares,” Howard said, his voice gravelly but authoritative. “That’s five percent more than even Wynn is slated to inherit. Get Cassian to cooperate with his treatment, or better yet, go back to him, and the contract is yours p>
Trista didn’t miss a beat. She placed her fingertips on the document and slid it right back to him.
