Zachary paused for a moment before saying, “My parents still earn an income, and our family farmland has many flowers and fruit trees. Every year, we make a decent amount of money selling flowers and fruits. We’re not wealthy, but we’re also not struggling financially p>
“Even though the elders are retired, they manage a few small businesses that may not be highly profitable or exhausting, but they keep them engaged and provide a sense of fulfillment in their lives p>
“I’ve offered my parents money, but they always refuse. I once gave them some, but they returned twice that amount to me so I could save it for my wife p>
Serenity recalled her last visit with her father-in-law. Although he was older, he was a well-groomed gentleman with admirable composure.
Her mother-in-law wasn’t particularly fond of Serenity but was gracious enough not to show it. She spoke kindly and appeared youthful; Serenity felt that outsiders might mistake them for sisters if they walked side by side.
Serenity and Zachary had been married for some time, and among Zachary’s family, she got along best with Grandma May. She had only met the others during a dinner invitation last time, and Zachary’s family had seldom made an appearance since. She was unaware of where they lived, either.
Grandma May had a strong bond with Serenity. When Serenity inquired about their residence, Grandma May told her they lived at the top of a specific mountain. There were many houses there, and Serenity had no idea which one belonged to them.
Later, Grandma May mentioned that Zachary would eventually take her back for a visit.
However, Zachary had never brought up the idea of returning to his hometown.

“Your parents are very open-minded,” Zachary smiled. “The elders in my family are also very open-minded p>
Serenity agreed. After a while, the stain on Zachary’s face was washed away.
“Don’t apply makeup like this again. Thankfully, we were at a hotel; if we had been out shopping, kids might have thought they saw a ghost and would have been terrified p>
Zachary was left speechless. “You didn’t get enough rest last night. Do you still have to go to work? Can you take a day off? Why not take the day off to catch up on sleep p>
Serenity thought she could take a nap at the store later. “I have a meeting in the morning, so I can’t take the day off p>
She looked at him for a long moment and said apologetically, “I’m sorry you couldn’t rest well p>
“Then how will you make it up to me p>
Serenity glanced at the time and replied, “You still have an hour before you need to work, so you should take a nap while I prepare your compensation p>
What she meant was that she would make him breakfast.
Zachary smiled and let her go.
As she turned to leave, he reminded her, “You should go back to your room and shower first. You slept so soundly last night that no matter how much I called out to you or nudged you, I had to carry you upstairs.” Serenity’s face inexplicably flushed red.
She quickly left after humming a response.
Zachary stood there, watching her disappear. After some thought, he murmured, “Did she just blush? She ran away so quickly p>
He didn’t do anything further.
He only mentioned that he had carried her upstairs the previous night. Was that sufficient to make her blush? Zachary couldn’t comprehend why she felt shy, especially since she hadn’t blushed when he kissed her. A woman’s heart is indeed mysterious.
