Zachary held Serenity, hoping to meet her in dreamland. As he closed his eyes, a thought suddenly crossed his mind. He gently pulled away from Serenity and sat up.
Reaching for Serenity’s phone on the bedside table, Zachary posted a photo on Facebook to announce his marriage to his circle of friends.
The photo would inevitably circulate, but Zachary wasn’t worried since it only showed a pair of hands. This would protect Serenity from media scrutiny for the time being. However, Serenity’s Facebook post could be viewed by Elisa. Given their close friendship, it was likely they had added each other on Facebook. Clive could see his photo through others, and Elisa would discover it on Serenity’s profile. By comparing the images, Elisa would realize that Serenity was his wife. Zachary needed to keep his relationship with Serenity a secret from Elisa, at least for now. Serenity and Mrs. Stone had undergone a DNA test, with results expected in two days. Regardless of the outcome, it wouldn’t change the bond Serenity and Elisa shared. If his secret were exposed, Zachary dreaded the potential fallout.
Determined, Zachary grabbed Serenity’s phone and opened her Facebook app, only to find she had logged out.
“Her password…” he muttered, furrowing his brow. He remembered watching her log in earlier. What was her password? He paused for a moment, trying to recall it before attempting to enter a password. The first attempt failed. So did the second.
Taking a moment to breathe, Zachary reminded himself to stay calm and not to panic. He searched for the right password.
He delved back into his memory of the letters Serenity had typed. After a few moments of silence, Zachary attempted to enter the password again. This time, he successfully accessed her Facebook account. A broad grin spread across his face, bringing him more joy than closing a multi-billion-dollar deal. He quickly searched Serenity’s friend list and found Elisa. Thank goodness Elisa used her real name. Zachary clicked on Elisa’s profile and blocked her from seeing Serenity’s posts and stories. Since Serenity had shared the photo in her stories, it would be long gone by the time she realized that Elisa could no longer access her updates. He felt fortunate that he and Serenity had posted the photo late at night when their friends were fast asleep. No one had liked the photo Serenity had shared yet. The repeat offender settled back down beside Serenity. Suddenly, an idea struck him. Zachary took Serenity’s phone again and checked how she had saved his contact. It read: [Mr. York – Husband married at first sight]. Zachary was taken aback. Serenity likely worried she might forget who he was, which led her to add those notes next to his name. It reminded him of when he had forgotten who she was and deleted her number. He had added her number back and included a note to help him remember her. Setting the phone down, Zachary picked up his own phone and searched for Serenity’s contact. He changed her name to “my wife.” Serenity would surely think it was sweet if she ever checked her name in his phone. As if she would think that. “Goodnight, Serenity. Please dream of me,” Zachary whispered into her ear before turning off the light.
