“That explains a lot,” Bjorn said. “I thought you were really big before, but I didn’t know you were an Alpha. Well, my wolf said you were one, but I didn’t believe him. No offense p>

The estate was even bigger than I remembered from the night of the event, or maybe it just felt that way in daylight. Sebastian’s Beta, Colt, appeared and offered to give Bjorn a tour of the house while Sebastian showed me to our rooms. Bjorn swung around to look at me immediately.

“You were running a fever two days ago,” I warned.
“I feel fine. Mom, look at me.” He spread his arms out. “I’m fine p>
He did look fine. He looked better, in fact, than he had in ages. Whatever it was about being in pack territory, it was clearly already working.
“Just… Stay with Colt,” I said. “No running off p>
Bjorn was already moving before I finished the sentence.
Sebastian watched him go and smiled at me. “Good kid p>
“He has his moments,” I said.
Sebastian carried one of the bags up for me even though I told him not to, and led me through the house and up to the second floor. The suite was at the end of the hall-two bedrooms connected through a shared sitting room, with windows that looked out over the grounds. It was more than I’d expected. More than I needed, really, but it was comfortable, and I was grateful for Sebastian’s hospitality.
“My room is just across the hall,” Sebastian said, stopping at the door. “If anything comes up, day or night, feel free to knock p>

Before he left, he ran me through the security setup. There were four guards assigned specifically to this wing on a rotating schedule, two at the main gate overnight, and one stationed on the grounds at all times with line of sight to the east perimeter. Nobody outside of Sebastian’s most trusted inner circle knew Bjorn and I were here. If anyone saw us, they just thought we were guests, nothing more. No specifics.
“Even if Gideon somehow manages to find out you’re here,” he added, “he won’t be able to get to you p>
I wanted to believe him. I really did. But I also knew Gideon, and I knew he wouldn’t give up if he found out I was here. Especially if he found out Bjorn was here.

Sebastian, noticing the look on my face, placed his hand on my shoulder. “Bjorn’s presence here will be highly guarded p>
“Thank you,” I muttered.
Sebastian smiled, then left after that so I could rest. I sat down on the edge of the bed in the larger bedroom and looked around the room for a moment. The bags were by the door. I hadn’t unpacked yet,
but I was too tired right now.
I decided to lean back and shut my eyes for just a few minutes. I hadn’t meant to fall asleep, but soon, I was drifting off before I could stop myself.
The dreams came quickly, although they were more fragmented than usual. Typically, my prophetic dreams were clear and highly symbolic, but this time, they were clipped and confusing.
One thing was for certain, though: Gideon was in all of them.
In one, we were standing in a forest at night and he was staring at me with yellow eyes. In another, he was chasing me through a garden. His howls sounded like laughter. In the third, he was embracing me tightly as we fell over a cliff into empty air.
None of the dreams made sense. I couldn’t pinpoint the symbolism in any of them. By the time I woke, I was disoriented and my back was coated in a cold sweat.
I laid there for a moment in my room, which was now dark, the sky outside having deepened into the blue of twilight. I breathed slowly to calm myself. Just nightmares-nothing important. No messages from the Moon Goddess.
Just then, a knock at the door pulled me upright. I crossed the room and opened it to find Colt standing
there.
“Alpha Sebastian wanted me to let you know that dinner is being served,” he said.
