Chapter 352
“Hey,” I said, moving toward her. “I’m looking for p>
She turned and left before I could finish. Her footsteps were quick as she rounded a corner,
disappearing.
“She knows something,” my wolf snarled.
Indeed she did. “Hey!” I shouted. Ignoring the receptionist’s gasp, I raced around the desk and followed the woman. I could hear the receptionist calling security behind me, but I ignored her.
The woman was at the elevator now, frantically pushing the button. Her eyes widened when she saw me coming, and the doors slid open. She rushed inside, then pushed the button to close the doors.
I managed to make it before they did. I stuck my arm out as they half-closed, forcing them back open, and stepped inside.
The woman gasped, pressing herself against the back wall of the elevator. I saw her reach into her pocket. “G-Get back!” she shouted. “I’m armed p>
I looked down to see that she was now brandishing a small canister of pepper spray. I folded my arms p>
That doesn’t work on werewolves p>
Her chest heaved. “It does if I use the whole canister on you.” I took a step closer. She lifted the canister. “I said stay back p>
“I’m not going to hurt you, lady.” I held my hands up. “I just want to know where Avery is, that’s all. I need to talk to her. I’m p>
“I know exactly who you are.” She lifted her chin, her hand shaking now as she positioned her thumb over the button for the pepper spray. “And I won’t tell you where she is p>
“But you do know where she is,” I said, tilting my head.
Her eyes darted around. “N-No… I don’t know that p>
“Lady, I’m not that stupid p>
“J-Just leave, okay? Security is coming for you, anyway p>
“I’ll leave. I’ll leave.” I took a step back. “But I just want to talk to Avery. If you could just tell me where p>
“Yeah, well, she doesn’t want to talk to you.” She spat the words out. “And I’m certainly not telling you how to find her. So get. OUT p>
Behind me, the doors slid open again. We hadn’t left the first floor. The security guards rushed in, two large human men. They were somewhat dwarfed by my size, but they were carrying guns, so I relented and let them escort me out.
All the while, my mind was racing.

Avery was here somewhere. And she must have told her employees not to let me near her.
Why? I hadn’t done anything to hurt her. Ever. Why was she so afraid of me?
The guards shoved me out into the packed city street with a warning not to return, then closed the office doors and locked them. I cursed under my breath and turned away. A young human man stepped in my way by accident, eyes widening when he saw the flash of yellow in my eyes. Without thinking, I snarled, making him run off down the street with a shout.
I ran my hand through my hair, thinking. Avery likely didn’t live too far from her workplace; maybe I could find her personal address. If I could just get her to listen to me for five seconds, I could make her understand that I wasn’t going to hurt her, that whatever opinions she’d formed about me in the past ten years were baseless…
And most of all, I just wanted to tell her that I missed her, I loved her, and I wanted her to come home.
My phone buzzed in my pocket then. I pulled it out and answered without looking at the caller ID. That was a mistake.
“Hello p>
“Gideon. It’s Fiona p>
Fuck.
“Look, Fiona, now’s not really the best time p>
“I know where Avery is,” she cut me off. “If you promise to marry me, I’ll tell you her location.” 1
