Chapter 252

Snowflakes

I stood at the entrance of my bedroom, eyes fixed on the dress displayed on the stand like a silent accusation.

Goosebumps raced across my skin. Cold, relentless, as though the room itself remembered every lie it had ever held.

I walked further in, heart slamming against my ribs so hard I thought it might crack bone.

This house had been my sanctuary my entire life. A place of peace, laughter, safety until the night everything shattered.

But that had never erased the love I carried for the Frosts. The respect. The belonging.

Until now.

Until I began to see the conspiracy threading through every memory like poison.

I opened the closet.

Dresses. Blouses. Coats. Shoes. All neatly arranged, all in my size, all waiting like they’d known I’d come back someday. I swallowed hard, throat tight, chest aching and quietly closed the door again.

Sadness settled over me like fog.

We’d come to this.

Movement behind me.

I turned slowly.

Kashi stood in the doorway silent, watching me with eyes that held too much pain and not enough trust.

He stepped inside. Stopped a few feet away.

“Go apologize to Viviana,” he said, voice low but firm. “Tell her you’re sorry for those words. For pinning that horrible event on her. Do it now. Let’s resolve this. ”

The words landed like a punch.

I stiffened.

He was speaking fast, too fast like he was clinging to the last thin rope of hope that his blood sister couldn’t possibly be capable of

what I’d accused her of.

I lowered my gaze, tasting bitterness so sharp it burned.

He walked closer. Gripped my arm. not hard, but desperate.

“Right now, Snow. I’m begging you, Go. Apologize. ”

“I wish I could,” I whispered, heart splintering as I lifted my eyes to his. Tears stung, hot and immediate. “I swear to you, Kashi, I wish none of this was real. I’m exhausted too. But… it’s the truth p>

“Snow p>

“I overheard it,” I cut in shakily. “The night I called Sera to tell you all I was coming home. I overheard Dante and Ares talking about it. The dark alley case. Like it was the most normal conversation in the world p>

He froze.

Blinked.

“Which Dante are we talking about?” His voice was dangerously quiet.

I swallowed, searching his eyes.

“Which Dante? Since when did you know all this and keep it secret p>

He was fuming now, end point reached and I knew it was over.

The door opened.

Eshan walked in. Roc followed, both of them tense, wanting to know what had happened.

Kashi released my arm and dragged both hands through his hair, trying to stay sane.

“Roc,” he said tightly, “ask her to repeat what she just told me p>

Roc turned to me waiting.

Eshan and Roc settled their gazes on me, expectant.

I sighed, tired, bone – deep tired.

“Dante,” I said quietly. “I believe all my biological family knows. I’m not sure. But I heard Dante and Ares talking about it p>

Silence crashed down.

Eshan stared at me again and again like he couldn’t process it.

“How long have you known this?” he asked.

“Weeks now. ”

“ And you’re just saying it now? Really?” He exhaled roughly, turning to Roc. “I’m prosecuting every one of them in court to p>

“Dad wants us off the case,” Roc said quietly.

Eshan froze. “You’ve got to be kidding me. What are you saying p>

Roc paused, swallowed hard, over and over. He was the eldest. The closest to Father. In all the years I’d lived here, the Frost brothers had never once broken rank with their father. They were respectful. Upright. Obedient. Loyal to a fault.

Now, standing there, looking into Roc’s eyes, I could see it he wouldn’t break that loyalty. Not even for me.

He met my gaze, quiet, almost gentle.

“Do you feel any pain?” he asked. “In your head, maybe p>

The implication hit like ice water.

He was suggesting carefully, painfully, that perhaps I’d lost my mind. That maybe I was inventing this. Hallucinating. Deranged.

I lowered my gaze.

My time here was done.

I picked up my bag. Reached for the framed photo on the wall that has me and my brothers when we were younger, smiling, carefree and thrust it inside.

Then I simply walked past them, dabbing at my eyes, refusing to let the tears fall until I was out of sight.

If I didn’t leave now, I might lose what was left of my sanity completely.

In the living room, the Mooncrests were already gone. I couldn’t even be surprised.

I burst out of the house, rushing, half–running under the falling snow like my life depended on it.

I was slipping.

Questioning my own reality.

Sharp pain lanced through my heart, up into my head, gnawing, relentless.

Then I felt it. Wetness on my upper lip.

I stopped short. Touched my nose.

Blood. Bright red on my fingertips.

Panic surged.

Memory might vanish.

“Cupid,” I whispered to myself, fumbling for my phone. “Cupid p>

My fingers shook, slipping on the screen.

A wave crashed over me, dizzying, disorienting. Minutes passed. Maybe more then I went cold.

I stood under the snow, lost, blinking at the streetlights, wondering where I was. Why I was here.

A small frown creased my brow.

Then a taxi pulled up in front of me.

“Where to, ma’am?” the driver asked politely.

I slid into the backseat without thinking.

“To Ares’s mansion p>
