Vespera mumbled, “They aren’t p>
Dominic replied, “The water has gone cold p>
Again, Vespera responded, “No, it hasn’t p>
Dominic was rendered speechless. As he looked at Vespera’s current state, he felt something stir inside him. However, that feeling only lasted one second. Then, he scooped her out of the bathtub. Getting drunk was one thing, but getting drunk and catching a cold? That would be worse.
Dominic wrapped Vespera in a towel and began drying her off, but she didn’t appreciate the effort. Despite being the one who had thrown up all over both of them, she wrinkled her nose and leaned in to sniff him, then made a face. She said, “You stink p>
Dominic responded, “Yes, I stink. You smell the best p>
After saying that, he carried Vespera out of the bathroom.
One look at the stained carpet and the lingering smell in the guest room, and Dominic decided to head straight to his bedroom.
As soon as Vespera hit the pillows, she snuggled in and closed her eyes. On the other hand, Dominic went to shower.
Just as Dominic stepped out, a knock sounded from the corridor. He opened the door to find Gerard standing next door with ibuprofen and a glass of water.
“Give it to me,” said Dominic, taking the ibuprofen. Then, he continued, “You can go rest now p>
Without another word, Dominic turned and walked back inside.
Gerard looked between the guest room and the master bedroom. Wait a second… Was this even allowed?
Back in the bedroom, Dominic placed the ibuprofen and a glass of water on the nightstand. He leaned over the bed and lightly patted Vespera’s cheek. “Wake up and take ibuprofen. You’ll feel awful in the morning if you don’t p>
Vespera frowned as she tried to open her eyes. Dominic helped her sit up, wrapping the covers around her as he pulled her into his arms. Then, he fed her water and ibuprofen.
After Vespera took the ibuprofen, she pulled her arms out of the covers and wrapped them around his waist, her nose nuzzling against his collarbone. She mumbled, “You smell good p>
Her hand then started wandering lower toward his abs.
Dominic immediately grabbed her wrist. Vespera raised her head, staring at him with longing eyes. Her toes curled into the sheets as she slowly inched upward toward him.
Her lips brushed his. He looked at her and knew she was clearly out of it. Still, he leaned down and kissed her. “Go to sleep,” he whispered.
Vespera didn’t listen. She kissed him back and murmured, “It’s your turn p>
Dominic froze. Then, he kissed Vespera again. Once he pulled back, she leaned in and kissed him once more. She said, breath warm against his lips, “It’s your turn p>
How was Dominic supposed to resist that?
Dominic kissed Vespera deeply this time. His tongue slipped between her lips, and he brushed his lips against hers, their breaths intertwined.
The covers slipped from her body, and her figure sank into the mattress. His hands trailed along her waist. Just as she drifted into that dreamy bliss, he stopped.
Dominic looked at Vespera’s drunken state. He thought about tomorrow morning and the regret that might follow, as well as how she might look at him if he didn’t stop. The desire burning through him began to cool.
He gently touched her flushed cheek and muttered, “You’re drunk. No strenuous activity allowed.” He pulled away and stood from the bed.
Behind Dominic, Vespera whined, reaching into the air, “Foxy, don’t go. We’re best friends, so we should play together p>
Dominic pulled the covers back over her and settled into the recliner by the window. “I’m not leaving. I’m right here p>
Vespera mumbled to herself, “Come back. There’s meat for you p>
She rolled around on the bed, tossing and turning until she finally wore herself out and went still.
Dominic walked over and picked Vespera up from the foot of the bed before placing her back against the pillow. Then, he went back into the bathroom. That night, he ended up taking four cold showers.
The next morning, Vespera woke up from her sleep. She felt dizzy, and when she looked up at the ceiling, she realized she wasn’t in her room.
At this time, footsteps echoed. Vespera turned her head and saw Dominic coming out from the walk-in closet. He was dressed in a dark blue three-piece suit. He looked immaculate and elegant. He was so good-looking that she forgot how to breathe for a second.
“Good morning,” mumbled Vespera, still groggy.
