Calliope had never had the best reputation. It was an open secret that the Jewell family wasn’t fond of her, often referring to her as a jinx.

Calliope adjusted the microphone and faced the eager crowd. With a confident smile, she addressed them, “Well, the truth is, the shares weren’t exactly handed to me out of goodwill. The Jewell Group is on the brink of bankruptcy, and they’ve asked me to step in to save the company, Horatio, and Lisette. In return, I made a small request.
I told them I wanted control of the company and a share of stocks. For the sake of Lisette, Horatio, and the company itself, they agreed to my terms. Consider it a fair exchange.
I’ll ensure Horatio’s legs are healed and that Lisette is released. And, of course, the company won’t collapse under my watch. They’ll continue to work here, but the ownership now belongs to me p>

The reporters showered Calliope with praise.
Monty’s expression soured. It seemed all the media was siding with Calliope, leaving him and the rest of the family isolated.
More importantly, he hadn’t anticipated that Calliope would use the press conference to establish her leverage over them.

friendly and approachable, exuding warmth and unique charm.

their inquiries. Calliope handled each question with ease; she was
eloquent, and it wasn’t long before they were all won over and charmed by her, steering clear of any troublesome topics.
