She said, “Donald, your wife yelled at me. She said I made her mess up at work and even cursed me. What did I do to her? Why would she say that to me? That’s just unforgivable p>
Cheryl almost cried her heart out. After all, she had never been treated so unfairly in her whole life.
Donald quickly tried to comfort her. “Calm down. Jennifer isn’t that kind of person. I’m not home right now, but I’ll talk to her when I get back. However, no matter what he said, Cheryl just wouldn’t listen.
“Alright, Cheryl, don’t speak ill of your sister–in–law behind her back. Let me find out what’s going on, and I’ll call you back,” Donald said and hung up.
He just couldn’t understand why Jennifer would say those things to Cheryl. After all, the Jennifer he knew was always calm and collected. He felt that something must have happened.
With that thought in mind, Donald immediately called Jennifer, but it just didn’t get through. A bad feeling hit him, and he rushed back to Nareigh.
When Donald got to the hospital, he saw a few young nurses from the gynecology department whispering in the hallway. Donald hurried over and asked, “Where is Jennifer p>
“Oh, Dr. Lynn, you’re back. Dr. Nelson should be in her office. I think she’s probably feeling down right now, ” one of the nurses said.
“Did something happen?” Donald asked, out of breath and sweating.
The nurse said, “Dr. Nelson performed surgery today, but due to improper handling, the pregnant woman lost too much blood. The baby was saved, but
the mother is now in a coma, and her condition is still uncertain.
“Her husband made a huge scene and blamed Dr. Nelson for everything. He even spat right in her face p>
“What? How could this happen?” Donald didn’t ask any more questions and rushed straight to Jennifer’s office.
He pushed open the door and looked around, only to find Jennifer sitting on the floor, curled up in the corner with her arms wrapped around her knees. The room was a mess, with broken flowerpot pieces everywhere.
“Jennifer.” Donald walked over and crouched in front of her, calling her name several times, but she didn’t respond at all.
After a long time, Jennifer finally stared up at Donald with a desperate look. She seemed completely out of it, and when she spoke, her voice was cold as
ice.
“It’s all Cheryl’s fault. Because of her, I made a mistake during surgery and almost caused a disaster. Now the patient has lost too much blood and still hasn’t woken up. What am I supposed to do?” she said.
Donald gently helped Jennifer up from the floor and comforted her softly. “You still have me. You’re my wife now. Trust me, I’ll handle this for you p>
Jennifer looked at Donald through her tears, not quite sure if she could believe him.
Donald felt sorry for her. “Just leave it to me, okay? We’re married now, and whatever happens, we’ll face it together p>
Jennifer let Donald hold her, feeling a faint bit of warmth from his embrace. Donald asked her gently why she made the mistake at work and what it had to do with Cheryl.
Jennifer said, “I tried to call her earlier but couldn’t get through. She lives alone outside of town, and I was worried something might have happened. That was why I got distracted for a few minutes p>
“I see.” Donald was a little moved. “Thank you for caring so much about Cheryl. She shouldn’t have said those harsh words to you. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to
her p>
Jennifer didn’t care what Cheryl said about her. She shook her head in pain and said, “What about my job? If I got suspended, I wouldn’t be in the mood
