He explained that the dragons feared humanity’s greed–feared hat men would uncover their secrets and twist them for selfish, destructive purposes that could doom both mankind and dragonkind alike.
Then, turning to Brenda, the sage spoke with sorrow. “She has been marked for your kind. When the next Dragon–Blooded Alpha arises, he may never find his mate, for he will not have the chance to bear heirs p>
His words carried an ominous weight, foreshadowing a fate neither Rufus nor Brenda had foreseen.
