I arrived with nothing, and when I left, I was just as empty–handed. As I stepped off the ship, an unfamiliar world stretched out before me.
It was remote here, but as more passengers disembarked, the dock came alive.
Luxury cars lined the curb, glamorous people swept into waiting vehicles, and engines roared one after another, the air thick with the smell of fuel and anticipation.
I stood motionless, watching the sleek cars drive away. Only then did it hit me–I had nothing.
After a moment’s hesitation, I pulled out my phone, about to call Elena to pick me up.

Jeremy’s eyes widened slightly, seeming mildly intrigued by my slip–calling his Alpha by name so casually.
I saw the question in his eyes, though he said nothing.
I realized I’d almost revealed too much with that reaction.
There was no need to explain further though–trying to clarify would only make things more suspicious.
Better to move past it.
“But didn’t you and Alexander already leave the ship?” I asked.
He nodded. “We did. I realized I forgot something and had to double back. Good thing he reminded me to check before we left, or I’d be screwed p>
My eyes lit up. “So… where is Alpha Alexander now p>
“In the car,” Jeremy said plainly.
Caught under my hopeful stare, he added, “It’s late, Miss Winters. Probably not the safest place for a lone she- wolf to be standing around. Why don’t you come with us p>
He offered a polite smile. “We’ll take you home. Alpha Alexander wouldn’t want anything happening to his guest p>
My face broke into a delighted smile as I nodded without hesitation. “Thank you, Mr. Smith p>

I looked up and locked eyes with Alexander.

I let out a bitter laugh under my breath. Was this the Moon Goddess’s idea of a joke?
“Are you planning to drive anytime soon?” Alexander’s sharp voice cut through my thoughts.
