“Where’s Felix?” she asked suddenly, sitting up as maternal concern overrode everything else.
“With Lyra, remember? I’m sure they’re already up and having breakfast.” I stroked her arm reassuringly.” We can check on him after we eat p>
She relaxed slightly, but I could see her mind working. “I should get dressed and find him p>
“Actually,” I said, catching her hand before she could leave the bed, “I was thinking we could do
something different today p>
“Different how?” Her curiosity was piqued.
“A date,” I said simply. “Just you and me. No pack business, no interruptions. Felix will be fine with Lyra
for a few hours – she’s great with kids, and he seemed to like her p>
Summer looked surprised, as though the concept of a normal date was foreign to her. It probably was, I
realized with a surge of anger toward Foster. Had that bastard never even taken her out properly?
“A date,” she repeated, testing the word. “I’d like that p>
“Good.” I pressed a quick kiss to her lips before standing. “First, breakfast in bed for my Luna, then we’ll get ready for the day. ”
Her eyes widened slightly at the title, but she didn’t correct me. Progress.
I returned twenty minutes later balancing a tray loaded with pancakes, bacon, fruit, and coffee. Summer
had slipped on one of my t–shirts in my absence, the hem barely reaching mid–thigh. The sight of her in my clothing sent a surge of possessive satisfaction through me.
“This looks amazing,” she said as I set the tray across her lap. “Did you make this yourself p>
“Don’t sound so surprised,” I teased, sliding back into bed beside her. “I do have some domestic skills p>
We ate in comfortable silence, occasionally feeding each other bites of food. It was startlingly intimate in
a way that had nothing to do with sex just two people sharing a quiet morning together.
After breakfast, I led her to my massive ensuite bathroom where a shower big enough for four people
dominated one wall. “Care to join me?” I asked, already turning on the water.
The shower lasted twice as long as necessary, partly because I couldn’t keep my hands off her, and partly because I took my time washing every inch of her body, memorizing each curve and freckle.
Once dried and dressed – Summer in clothes Lyra had brought for her, me in casual jeans and a henley- we checked on Felix, who was indeed having the time of his life in the pack’s recreation room with Lyra and several other pack children.

“Mom!” he exclaimed when he saw Summer, running to give her a hug. I noticed his eye patch was gone, revealing the scarred socket beneath. The fact that he felt comfortable enough to remove it around pack members spoke volumes.
“Are you having fun?” Summer asked, returning his embrace.
“The best! Lyra showed me how to play pool, and I beat Tyler twice!” He gestured excitedly toward a boy slightly older than himself, who grinned good–naturedly at the mention of his defeat.
“Alpha Alexander is taking me out for a few hours,” Summer explained, crouching to his level. “Will you be okay with Lyra until we get back p>
Felix looked between us, a knowing smile spreading across his face. “Are you guys going on a date p>
“We are,” I confirmed, placing a hand on Summer’s shoulder. “Is that okay with you, buddy p>
He considered this for a moment before nodding solemnly. “It’s okay. But you better bring Mom back
before dinner p>
I fought back a laugh at his protective tone. “You have my word p>
With Felix’s blessing secured, I led Summer to the garage where my collection of vehicles awaited. Her eyes widened as she took in the rows of luxury cars.
“Which one should we take?” I asked, enjoying her amazement.
“You choose,” she replied, clearly overwhelmed by the options.
I selected the least ostentatious vehicle – a sleek black Audi convertible – and helped her into the passenger seat before sliding behind the wheel.
“Where are we going?” Summer asked as we pulled out of the compound.
“It’s a surprise,” I told her with a wink. “Trust me p>
She studied me for a moment before nodding. “I do p>
Those two simple words meant more to me than any passionate declaration could have. Trust wasn’t something Summer gave easily not after what she’d been through.
