ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV
To say I was surprised would be an understatement.
No. It wasn’t what I was thinking it was. She was just enjoying sucking my neck, nothing more. I kept telling myself to calm my raging heart and the reaction that I was having somewhere south.

“Has anyone told you that you taste like heaven?” Valencia said before she pulled herself closer to me.
My heart skipped a beat as she expressed her liking towards what she was doing without hiding the rawness of the matter.
It was almost as if she wasn’t afraid of what I was going to think about her, and she was definitely not afraid of showing her desires to me.
“Valencia, I think that’s enough-” I said, my voice coming out in a whimper, surprising me.
What the hell? What happened to my alpha voice and dominance?
Don’t tell me my body was falling and folding in front of her, letting her dominate over me just like that.
“Enough? I haven’t even started, Maverick. You have no idea what I have in mind for you,” She said before she finally pulled back.
My pupils dilated as my gaze landed on her chin where drops of blood were present. It was my blood. Naturally, I should be disgusted by what I was seeing, definitely angry because she was doing it with me.
But what was I feeling?

Without thinking twice, I grabbed a fistful of her hair and pulled her back close so that I could lick that dripping blood from her chin, the blood that was rolling down her neck, getting lost into her cleavage.

The sound of the fabric tearing echoed along with our heavy breaths.

I looked back up to see if she still had the same desire in her eyes. If so, I will tear up her bra today and taste my own kind of Nirvana from her nipples, letting her know what it feels like to be the receiving end of such a kind of pleasure.
As soon as I looked up, I noticed her eyes were closed.
I furrowed my brows, thinking she was probably pretending to be asleep to escape my hold.
However, her calm heartbeat was a clear indication that she was fast asleep and I honestly suppressed the urge to take what I needed even when she was asleep.
Fucking tease. I groaned before shaking my head.
I was about to take her to the bedroom to let her sleep when I felt something was wrong with the situation. Her heartbeat wasn’t just calm, it was unusual. It was just a slight change from how her heartbeat usually is when she is sleeping and as an Alpha it didn’t take me long to observe it.
I looked at her lips which had a bluish tint, something that happens when you get poisoned or something, and my eyes widened when I realized that this might not exactly just be her falling asleep.

Without thinking twice, I forced my jacket on her and picked her in my arms.
“Shadow, quickly get the car started. Something is wrong with Valencia,” I mind-linked my subordinate who I knew was in the region as I walked inside the lift.
“Valencia? When did she go inside?” Shadow asked.
I pressed my lips into a thin line unsure if I should be proud of my woman’s sneakiness or if I should be angry at my men’s incompetence.
“Is that even important? I said start the car,” I said, looking at the lift numbers that finally settled to the ground floor.
I was about to walk out of the building when I received a call from Carl.
Usually, I would’ve ignored his call because I didn’t really want him to interrupt my time with Valencia, but the fact that these people knew more about my woman than I did was still a sore thing for me.

“Alpha Maverick, has Valencia come to meet you?” Carl asked straight to the point, and I wondered if he was the one who told her about my apartment.
“Yes,” I said, looking at the woman who looked like she was having the best sleep of her life as I opened the door of the backseat and got inside.
“Can you please help me contact her? This is urgent,” Carl said, and I clenched my teeth.
I didn’t want to appear incompetent in caring for Valencia and give them the impression that she wasn’t safe with me. This wasn’t the first time she got hurt when she was with me and this was surely making the council wary of me.
However, at the same time, her health was more important to me. It’s not like I would allow the council to take her away from me.
“She can’t… She fell unconscious -” I couldn’t even complete my sentence when I heard the sound of something falling in Carl’s background.
Was he that shocked?
“What do you mean she fainted? What exactly happened?” He asked hurriedly, and I cleared my throat.
“I am not too sure what’s wrong. She just climbed my balcony out of nowhere. She was acting a bit weird and then she fell unconscious. Her lips have turned blue and I am taking her to the hospital. Don’t worry. She would be fine,” I said, hiding the other things we shared.
“No!” Carl shouted from the other side before he cleared his throat.
“I mean, no, you must bring her to me. I have the antidote for what might have happened to her. The doctors will waste too much time figuring out things. Bring her here as quickly as possible,” Carl said, and though I was a little bit skeptical about it, I nodded at Shadow who immediately turned the car in that direction.
