VALENCIA’S POV
Scorching heat and headache. That was exactly what I was feeling as soon as I opened my eyes.
I groaned hard.
What the hell happened?
’You got karma for not listening to me. That’s why I keep telling you to not disobey me. Look where it got you,’ Aurora smirked.
I looked at her confused.
Karma? The last thing I remembered was going to Alpha Maverick’s balcony, looking at his alluring neck that I wanted to bite so much, and p>
Wait. No way did I actually bite his neck and drink blood, did I?
’You definitely did and things escalated quite quickly,’ Aurora said, and I ruffled my hair angrily, my hand freezing in its place when I realized something.
Wait. Why did she say things escalated quickly?

I quickly lifted the duvet and looked under the blanket. I was still dressed but… Is this Alpha Maverick’s shirt? Why was I in his shirt? I stuffed my hand in my panties and felt no pain down there, I heaved a sigh of relief.
Nothing happened down there for sure. I heaved a breath of relief, glaring at Aurora who was looking at me amused.
’What?’ I asked, annoyed.
’So you indeed care about it,’ she said, pointing at the time when I told her if I went into heat I would just find a man and sleep with him to my heart’s content. No big deal.
’Well, I definitely don’t want to lose my first real time over some hazy madness that I won’t even remember. And it shouldn’t be an alpha for sure,’ I said before I looked at the closed door.
Since I was back in my shared apartment with Carl, I am sure he was ready for his scolding.
After having such a rough night, I don’t think I was ready for another dose of how I wasn’t taking my life seriously in the same week and thus, I went to my bathroom before taking a quick shower.
I got dressed into a fresh pair of stretchable jeans and crop top and a denim jacket before taking my shoes in hand because I didn’t want to make much noise.
Thanks to months of practice of sneaking in and out of the packs, I was becoming a pro with my work these days.
I turned on my phone, almost cursing out loud when it made some noise.
“I think I heard something. Maybe she is awake,” I heard a voice near the door and I quickly got into the covers.
“She is still sleeping. Huh, I didn’t want to do it, but if she doesn’t wake up in the next thirty minutes, I might have to call Dylan to ask what to do next. There is no such antidote to this kind of reaction. I just didn’t want you to take her to the doctor and have her exposed to unknown people,” I heard Carl talking before the door closed.
I threw the duvet off before furrowing my brows.
Poisoning? Well, who cares? As long as I am alive, nothing matters. I shrugged and walked to my window, ready to go on another adventure
’Look at this girl, acting as if the person being poisoned wasn’t her or by someone else,’ Aurora commented as I threw my low-heeled boots down from the window.
’Did I die? No, right? This is a new opportunity bestowed upon me by the moon goddess herself who wants to tell me to stop worrying about rogues or such things and just enjoy life,’ I told my wolf before I slid down the pipe regions so I could go to one place where Harry and others were to enjoy the night.
I looked around and once I noticed no one was there in the area, I started my bike before accelerating away towards the club.
’You are the first person I know who goes to a club to party right after waking up from almost dying. Do you have any idea how badly it would have gone if I hadn’t controlled the reactions right in time?’ Aurora asked and I hummed.
What was she getting angry for? She has to make use of herself in some way or another. Does she really think she can freeload into my head space without providing anything in return?
’Well, you have to make do with something in compensation for not letting me change into the wolf form,’ I shrugged and Aurora glared at me.
’You are taking your life quite lightly, Valencia. If I were in your place, I wouldn’t act like this. First, you need to lessen your dose of wolfsbane intake starting tomorrow,’ Aurora said, and I pulled the brakes of the bike abruptly, making the bike slide on the road as I turned it to stop.
I was done with this lecture from people.
Everyone keeps telling me I am taking my life seriously or how I should be living like this or that, but I haven’t met a single person who could do and handle it better than me.
What do they expect from a girl who has been abandoned by her parents long ago, rejected by her mate, and has been living in hiding ever since because she doesn’t have a wolf but changed into a feline creature?
’What is so wrong with how I am living, Aurora? Am I selling myself? Am I doing drugs? Or is it that you are dissatisfied I am not your pet?’ I asked Aurora.

’Don’t. What did you say? If you had been in my place? Tell me what exactly you would have done if you were in my place. What better things you could’ve done that I didn’t?’ I asked her, and seeing her going quiet suddenly, I scoffed.
’Before commenting on my ways of living, if you next time could give me suggestions on how to improve it without getting into trouble, I will be happy. And until you don’t have any intentions of doing so and can’t stop from asking me to become a knight in shining Armor for helpless people because you can’t save people by being the good guy all the time, don’t start this melodrama,’ I said before starting the bike again and speeding towards the club.
As I was passing by the Cafeteria area, I furrowed my brows when I felt like I saw something weird.
Was it just me or did someone go inside that shop that has been closed for years as described by the locals? Maybe the poor shop finally found an owner or something. I sighed, shaking my head, remembering to ask the manager who took over this shop.
I mean the stories about this shop weren’t exactly something that people would like to hear and then dine in this finest restaurant.
