Chapter 139
VALENCIA’S POV
’You are sad,’ Aurora whispered as I padded my way towards the forest of the regions I wanted to explore, and just like the last few times, I ignored her again.
I kept walking ahead.
This was important for me.
If what that book said was indeed true, probably these people are the only ones who would be able to tell me what was wrong with me.
These were the superior beings of our werewolf species and knew about everything. With the hope that they will have a cure for my condition too, I took this risk and came here.
I know Dylan denied me exploration of this one species, but this species was probably the only one who could help me.
They always ask me why I am so anxious about finding my wolf, that I was living just fine, but then again they can change into their wolf forms while I have to hide behind my forms that I don’t have any idea about why I turn into them in the first place and I can’t tell anyone about either.
If it was a curse, was there no cure for it? If it was a situation, was there no end to it? I wanted to know the answers to these questions.
Yes, I was unique but I don’t want to be unique.
I want to have a normal life like all the she-wolves. These adventures are good, but I want to enjoy the feeling of having a calm monotonous life too.
I looked at my hands, feeling my heart aching at the thought of what Carl said to me. Though he said those words in a fit of anger and didn’t mean them, it didn’t mean they didn’t hurt me.
After talking to Alpha Maverick, the pain in my heart eased a little, but that was it. His words weren’t going to change my reality, my pitiful reality where I was an unwanted and untamed woofless she-wolf.
I blinked back the tears that were itching to fall from my eyes.
Things were going to be tough. I know I was risking my life here, then again, I don’t think many people would actually be affected by my death.
Just like that quote said.
You are afraid to lose so many people, who is afraid to lose you?
I still can’t find that one person who will be afraid to lose me. My heart doesn’t believe there is anyone in this world.
And since I have no one like that, I don’t have to preserve myself for anyone. At least if I can find a solution for myself, they will stop treating me differently, like I was some special test case.
’Are you not going to talk to me?’ Aurora asked me, and I couldn’t help but sigh at her a little.
’There is no use talking to you about it, Aurora. I am not sure if it’s your fault. But I don’t blame you either way. This is probably my destiny,’ I whispered to her.
As I kept walking, a wince left my mouth when a piercing pain shot across my legs.
I looked down, and seeing the leech sucking my blood, I groaned before pulling it off forcefully.
I killed that leech before tying my handkerchief around the wound so it wouldn’t attract more insects.
This was one thing I hated about these monsoon-wet forests. These insects were unnerving and disgusting.
That was the whole reason I didn’t turn into my cat form because it would be worse for me in that form.
I kept walking and it wasn’t long before I finally reached the dry part of the forest, a sigh leaving my mouth as the fear of insects attacking me diminished a lot and I looked ahead.
I was about to start walking again when I saw someone sitting on the horse at some distance. He wasn’t alone, around 5 more horses with people on top of them joined that person.
The faces of none of them were visible, but I could see two of them were females.
I hid behind a tree as I looked at the horse riders who moved around while talking in a language that was hard for me to decipher. It wasn’t English for sure.
One of the girls turned in my direction and my heart skipped a beat at the beauty of the female.
I have never seen someone as beautiful as this lady over there. No wonder they call these Lycans supreme beings.
’Calm your heart, Valencia. You are going to get us caught.’ Aurora said, and I hummed.
However, to no avail did my heart stop beating fast. The girl was followed by the man who stopped his horse right beside her and leaned forward to kiss her.
They shared a passionate kiss and I felt like a kid watching an illegal romance. I hid behind the tree, ready to walk away because meeting so many Lycans at once was definitely not in the plans.
Maybe meeting one of them would be alright and I will be able to handle it just fine.
Turning into my cat form, I rushed in the right direction freely, hoping to see that one remaining Lycan since the six of them were there in the forest.
It wasn’t long before I spotted a female sitting around a fire as she placed more wood blocks in the pile.
The vibes coming from her were decent and calm. She was probably one of the soft ones, and I sighed in relief.
Good grief, I found the best one probably.
With a smile on my face, I walked towards her to ask her the questions I had so that I could leave as quickly as possible before those other Lycans could come and make things difficult for me.
After all, some of them were known for bullying the werewolves, and I didn’t want that to happen to me.
“Hi, respect to the Lycan. I wanted to ask something about my species,” I said.
But of course, I forgot I was still in my cat form.
And thus, what left my mouth was,
“Mew, mew, mew, mew p>
I looked at the Lycan with wide embarrassed eyes.
Damn it, this wasn’t how it was supposed to work. I groaned while Aurora chuckled at me, and I couldn’t help but glare at her.
This wolf probably did it deliberately. Could she not remind me of such a simple thing? How useless!
With a sigh, I turned around ready to leave so I could turn into my human form and come back again, but before I could move, the female Lycan picked me up in her arms.
“Awww, what a cute cat. What are you doing here, my cutie patootie, fluffy mochi?” The female Lycan said as she extended her hand in front of me to look at me.
And I looked back at her, my embarrassment at its peak.
Did she call me cutie patootie, fluffy mochi? What the hell?
And wait, with the way she was holding me, my body was on display in front of such a beautiful woman! My naked body!
How embarrassing!
I wanted to scream but stopped when I heard the collective sound of people walking towards us.
“Hey guys, look what I found,” The female Lycan said and then she displayed me to everyone.
All six Lycans looked at me like I was some stuffed toy in front of them, and I swear I could die at that moment.
This was definitely not what I planned to do p>
