VALENCIA’S POV
’Keep running. Keep running until you lose your breath because I am your only reality,’ the voice said as I struggled helplessly on the soil. The rain made it hard for me to move my legs, and I felt stuck.
It was coming near me. I could feel it.
The creeps were making me shudder, but I was helpless against it.
“What the hell do you want from me?! Leave me the fuck alone!” I couldn’t help but shout in agony.
The whisper didn’t leave me.
Instead, it started to grow big, and I couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
’Calm down, Valencia. You are only giving it the satisfaction of seeing you in misery. Calm down and move your foot slowly,’ I told myself as that blood shadow neared me, and I closed my eyes before trying one last time.
It came out. My foot came out from the soul, and I didn’t waste a second dashing away from the area.
I reached the cliff after running for what felt like an eternity.
My heart was racing, and I was about to run towards my bike when I saw that blood puddle reaching there before me.
I glared at that puddle, helpless.
’You just asked me what the hell I want. How can you leave me without hearing the answer? That’s so rude of you, Valencia,’ The voice said.
’Get away from me,’ I screeched, tears flowing helplessly from my eyes as I felt stuck in my place.
Its translucent hands reached me, and I had nowhere else to go.
The only option left was to step back towards the cliff again.
I extended my hands in front of me, ready to fight with bare hands if it attacked me out of the blue.
’I just want your blood, Valencia. If you want to protect yourself from me, protect yourself from all the double-faced people around you,’ the voice said.
I looked at it, confused, unsure what it was trying to say.
On one side, it was chasing me, threatening me, demanding my blood, and on the other side, it was asking me to protect myself from the double-faced people.
’The beautiful faceless void chasing me to the darkness of eternity with no name and identity, but with every scream that leaves my mouth, it grows inside me.
So, if I am looking for serenity, is it in the darkness I behold or the void inside of me?’ the voice said before the blood puddle stopped right before me, making me take a deep breath.
’Once you get the answer to this question. You will know who I am; if I am the same thing, you must be afraid of it,’ the voice said.
I was about to tell it to leave me alone and that I didn’t want any answers when I saw a drastic change in its behavior.
’Villains are not made; they are created. You believe in this, don’t you? But what if you face a villain with no back story?’ the voice asked me to step ahead.
I stepped back subconsciously.
What will I do if I meet a villain with no story?
’You are still contemplating if there are people like that. You haven’t met the world, the real world, yet. I am going to make good use of your life,’ The puddle held my hand.
I widened my eyes as I looked into its hollow eyes full of pure red blood. The stench made me want to gag, and I struggled to jerk my hand from its hand.
“For now, I am going to let you go,” The voice said before it left my hand, and as soon as it did that, I stumbled back.
There were no facial features of the blood puddle that took the shape of a person, but it felt like it smiled at me as I fell from the cliff once again.
“Aha!” A scream left my mouth.
“Valencia!” Someone shouted, and I immediately held onto the voice before I felt a stinging pain on my cheeks.
Opening my eyes, I looked into Maverick’s concerned eyes, and a sob left my mouth.
Grabbing his hands, I stuffed my face in his chest, hugging him like my life depended on it.
I know I was probably looking pitiful, but I just needed someone’s comfort at that moment, and he happened to be there.
“Sshhh, it’s okay. It was just a dream. Shhh, my little baby,” he coaxed me, kissing my forehead and temple repeatedly and caressing my cheeks. I couldn’t help but feel my heart easing at his words.
But wait. What did he say? Was it a dream?
I looked around and realized that the rock I stumbled on had hit my head. I had dropped unconscious at that time, and everything else I saw was just a fragment of my imagination.
I was feeling much calmer than before. I took a deep breath and detached myself from his arms.
However, I was indeed wrong if I thought it would be easy.
“Where are you going? I told you. If I get my hands on you, I will eat you right here and now,” Maverick said.
I wanted to tell him I wasn’t in the mood for any games or anything after having such a horrific dream, but the moment his flat palm landed on my lower abdomen, I wasn’t sure anymore.
“Spread your legs for me. Let’s not make it harder, yeah?” He asked me, and I looked at him, wondering if he was serious.
There was no way I would allow him to do this here.
“No?” Maverick asked me when I had not moved.
“Seeing how you are getting so shy, I can give you one option to get out of this situation,” he said.
“What option?” I jumped at the opportunity.
“You come and live with me in my apartment out of the pack for a week, and I might reconsider not doing it here,” Maverick said.
Ha! Sneaky fool! If he thought he could get me to agree to live with him, it was a fat chance for him. There was no way I was going to do it.
“I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon -” I couldn’t even complete my sentence when I heard it.
“Valencia! Valencia!” Dylan’s voice said, and I widened my eyes when I felt Maverick’s hand go under my shirt.
What the hell!
“Do you agree? Look, I am not afraid of them. They can catch me having oral sex with you for all I care. I am shameless regarding what I desire, and right now, I desire you. So be careful with what you say,” Maverick said.
I looked at him in surprise and anxiousness as his hand started to travel under my shirt, further up towards my bra.
A gasp left my mouth, and I quickly shut my mouth when he cupped my womanhood from out of my jeans.
“No,” I said.
“No?” He asked and leaned closer, capturing my lips into a heated kiss as it started to rain.
“No,” I moaned as his fingers lunched at my nipples, and he smirked into the kiss.
“Keep saying that, and you will end up naked under me in no time,” He said.
“Valencia!” Dylan’s voice started to approach us, and I gulped.
“I think she isn’t here p>
“How is that possible? Her bike was parked over the cliff. Alina saw it,” Dylan said.
I wasn’t that afraid or ashamed of him, but the second man whose voice it was made me jerk in my place.
What was he doing here? I wasn’t informed about his arrival at all.
“I I stuttered, looking into Maverick’s resolute eyes before gritting my teeth.
I was really left with no choice.
“You will pay for this later,” I threatened him.
He smirked before licking my lips.
“Oh, be my guest, baby. I am ready to pay with my body,” he said, and I gritted my teeth before nodding at him.
“Fine. I will come and live with you for a week. Just take your hands off of me. I can’t be presented like this before him,” I said.
As soon as Maverick removed his hands from me, the two men reached us, and seeing me on the ground with soiled clothes and a drenched state, the man I knew cared about me a lot walked ahead.
“Huh, why did I expect to see you in a much better position? You never cease to amaze me,” he said before walking to me.
He immediately removed his coat and wrapped it around me before pulling my hair from my face.
“I missed you, girl,” he said, and I smiled.
*I missed you too, Uncle Jonathan,” I said, leaning into his hug as he wrapped his hands around me.
“You have many questions to answer, girl,” he said, and I chuckled awkwardly.
Of course, what else did I expect?
