VALENCIA’S POV
“Leave my hand,” I said to the girl when she held my hand again, glaring at the place she was gripping before looking back into her eyes.
I was having a pleasant time, but of course, the moon goddess had to send a bitch my way to ruin my mood and remind me why I stay like how I am.
“How dare you ask me to leave your hand? Do you even know who I am? Wait. Don’t tell me you got into the place sneakily. A person with no smell and -” She paused, still contemplating if I was a werewolf, and I suppressed the urge to scoff in her face.
Tilting my head and squinting my brows, I looked at her from head to toe before grabbing her hand, which was grabbing my elbow.
“When I say you leave my hand, you do exactly what I tell you. I don’t like strangers touching me, and as to who I am, why don’t you wait for your alpha?” I asked, clearly telling her I was a werewolf and not a human that she was being cautious of.
“You, if you are a she-wolf, you should know who I am,” The girl said, stepping ahead to dominate me with her wolf powers as she let her wolf take control briefly.
“I don’t,” I said, letting a smirk appear on my face while I looked at her dead in the eyes so she would know she didn’t have the slightest effect on me.
’I don’t like her,’ Aurora said, and I rolled my eyes.
Yeah, as if I am feeling all the butterflies in my heart with her presence. As much as I love a girl’s presence around me, I hate profound and self-centered bitches, who think they can look down on anyone else because of their ranks.
This was exactly how things were back in the Hazel Moon pack, and I would be damned if I let anyone treat me with disrespect again.

Hearing a low snarl from the back of her throat, I licked my bottom lips.
I didn’t say anything to her; I just kept looking into her eyes, a stance I knew was surely working on her from the way her gaze was starting to become a bit wary.
I walked back into the hall, obviously followed by the girl, and seeing Happy squinting his brows at the girl, I smiled.

I wondered. As if he heard my voice in his head, I furrowed my brows when he squinted his brows again.
I was about to walk to him and take him inside the room to ask what was going through his head when I heard a scream.
I turned around with wide eyes when I saw the place where the girl would sit catching fire.
A chuckle left my mouth that I quickly covered behind my confusion.
“What happened?” I asked her, and the girl looked at me with her pupils dilated.
“This place burnt, didn’t it?” She asked when she saw the area as neat and clean as if it was new.
“If it had been burnt, it would’ve had a black stain or smoke coming out of it,” I said nonchalantly, slightly confused.
Right. I thought Happy only knew to throw fire. Can he cause delusions and make people hallucinate like that?
I looked at my stupid ancient vulture who doesn’t shy away from showing his protective side for me.
“Come here,” I said, taking the bird in my hands, hugging it close to my chest, and making him put his head on my shoulders.
“I will be off. Since you are a friend of Alpha Maverick, you must be familiar with the place. I don’t need to entertain you,” I said. I was about to walk out of the room when I felt his presence.

What a stupid man. He said no one would disturb my peace in this place, which was why I came here to live with him.

Seeing him entering the hall with a slightly angry and confused expression, I knew not to bring up the matter immediately.
I sighed before deciding I would do it later.
Turning around again, I walked to my room and could only turn the doorknob when I felt his presence behind me.
He turned me swiftly before taking my face between his hands and kissing my lips, making me widen my eyes.

I heard Happy’s helpless cry, squeezed between us, and I pushed Maverick slightly.
“Seriously?” I asked him before opening the door and letting Happy enter the room, who glared at Maverick with a condescending look.
Maverick smirked back at the bird as if proud of his work.
“Now you know what will happen if you touch what is mine,” He said to the bird, and I realized he deliberately kissed me like that because Happy was sitting close to my chest.
I looked at the man before me in disbelief.
“You have a guest,” I started, noticing the shock and awkwardness in the girl’s eyes.
“Why do I smell her scent on you? How many times do I need to tell you I don’t like anyone’s scent apart from mine on you,” Maverick completely disregarded the girl’s presence before hugging me.
“I had a tough day, Mitsuki,” He whispered into my ears before kissing my temple.
I stood there awkwardly, my hands plastered to my side, unsure of how to react in that scenario.
What was happening? Is this how alphas normally behave?
