VALENCIA’S POV
“Can I expect some help in the experiment today from our genius student?” Aiden nudged me, and I glared at him, knowing all too well he was teasing me just like Henry.
Ha, this situation was too funny for them because they didn’t know what I was going through. I bet if they would have this kind of funny reaction when they find out the teacher they keep teasing me about is someone who can rip my head just because a rogue like me was studying in the human University.
Without replying to him, I turned to face the podium of the laboratory where Shadow stood with his back to us as he wrote the names of some of the experiments that we needed to perform.
Look at him acting like a professional teacher. I swear if it was an acting platform, he would’ve earned himself a role or something kind of trophy already.
“Since most of you don’t like to experiment that much and would probably try to seek ’help’ from your friends, you will do experiments in this order,” Shadow said, his gaze landing straight on Aiden.
I didn’t need a genius to tell me what exactly happened just now.
This werewolf hearing seriously.
Wouldn’t it be considered an illegal use of his powers if he is using them to eavesdrop on humans’ conversations? Why was it when I do it, it’s a sin, but when he does it, it’s alright? This was unfair treatment at its peak, I swear.
I looked at Shadow, who strangely wasn’t looking at me.
Don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t actually looking forward to having him look at me or something. It was just a little strange. I mean, from all the interactions we had so far, his actions were a little questionable.
What if something was brewing in that cunning head of his? I can’t take any risk with this man for sure.
Though he looks all harmless when he isn’t glaring, I swear there is a beast inside him that’s just waiting to prey on me.
’He looks hot even in a lab coat. Don’t you think?’ Aurora asked me.
’Yeah, he is indeed -’ I paused before glaring at Aurora who chuckled at me as she caught me ogling at him once again.
’Sometimes I really wonder what kind of joy you feel in annoying me,’ I whispered before looking at the experiment that I was supposed to perform according to my roll number.
“We got different experiments,” Aiden scowled.
I looked at him helplessly.
Poor guy. Probably if he hadn’t mentioned taking my help earlier, all of us wouldn’t be suffering like this.
Then again, was it really our fault?
“So, are you coming?” Aiden asked after some time.
“Coming to where?” I whispered while swirling the solution in the beaker as I placed it over the Bunsen burner.
“To the party,” Aiden looked at me with confusion.
But seriously, I don’t remember what kind of party he was really talking about.
“Girl, don’t tell me you forgot about the party. Didn’t I tell you that my dad was organizing a party and calling the elite group of the state to expand his business? I told you I would feel alone at a party like that and you said you would be there to accompany me. Remember?” Aiden said.
“Oh, that… how could I forget about it?” I chuckled awkwardly even when I had really forgotten.
This thing with Alpha Maverick and his beta was taking too much of my thoughts these days.
“I will be there. Just text me the date and time,” I said but Aiden shook his head.
He looked like he was about to say something, but stopped at the last minute, and I was about to ask him what it was when I felt Shadow’s presence behind us.
“Don’t hold the beaker like this. It will burn your hand in the long run,” Shadow said before he tapped the slab to tell me he wanted me to put the beaker down.
I placed the beaker on the slab, and he showed me how to do it properly.
Wow, what a professional. Look at him acting like he knew it all. I am sure he was just trying to interrupt my conversation with Aiden because how can I, a she-wolf, talk to a human male?
Not wanting to extend the matter too much, I nodded in understanding, pretending to be an obeying diligent student before copying his stance.
But my pupils dilated when I realized he was indeed right.
“Thank you,” I turned to face him and he nodded at me with a soft genuine smile, the smile beautiful enough to take your breath away, and I quickly looked away.
Now I feel guilty for questioning his knowledge. What the hell? Who asked him to smile at me like that? I scowled.
“Also, next time all the girls are supposed to tie their hair. We don’t want any accidents to happen, do we?” Shadow said, his gaze landed on my long hair that though tied in a ponytail was still landing on my hand.
“Hey, can you help me out then up in a bun?” I asked as I saw Shadow leaving.
Seeing Aiden lost in his experiments, I was about to speak again when I felt Shadow’s presence behind me.
“How should I do it exactly?” Shadow asked, and I froze in my place when his fingers touched the nape of my neck to collect all the hair in his hand.
I am sure the way my heart skipped a beat before starting to beat at the pace of a bullet train, he was able to hear it all.
“I…uh, just hold the base and twist them,” I said, cursing my luck.
Why do my hands have to be full at this time only? And why the hell did I ask Aiden to do it in the first place? I could’ve just waited till the titration was done.
Sometimes I feel Dylan is right. I indeed invite problems my way.
After hearing my instructions, he stepped forward, his chest almost touching my back, and I didn’t miss the way his abdomen touched my lower back either.
Heat crept up my neck when I realized what kind of position we were standing in and my hands turned sweaty.
At this point, I was really thankful that Aiden and I were standing in the last row with me standing in the corner because I don’t think I would’ve been able to face everyone if they had seen me like this.
“How do I secure them there?” Shadow asked, bringing me out of my obscene thoughts.
Yes. I was having some obscene thoughts. And don’t blame me for that. It was all because I was bestowed with a lusty fake wolf.
’Hey!’ Aurora complained, and I rolled my eyes at her.
“There is a hair clutch in my pocket,” I said, and he hummed in my ears before stepping even closer to me to place his hand inside my lab coat’s pocket.
“I don’t find any,” he whispered in my ears, and I swear his lips touched my earlobe.
Was he taking advantage of the situation? I wanted to ask but controlled my emotions.
“Check the other one,” I whispered, feeling sensual myself for some unknown reason.
“I found it,” He said when he checked my left pocket and placed the clutch on my hair.
“Thank you,” I said before adding another salt to the liquid.
“Be careful with nitrates,” He said, and I hummed, sighing in relief when I noticed that he was actually quite respectful about doing the task when he could’ve clearly used that opportunity to press himself into me and feel me more.
Maybe he wasn’t as much of a bad guy as I make him to be.
’Then again, are we really satisfied that he wasn’t as much of a bad guy? Maybe deep down, we wanted him to press hard against our back, probably feel our back with his front, our skin, lift us and have us wrap our legs around his torso before kissing the hell out of our -’ Aurora started speaking, making me widen my eyes as I started to feel a little aroused because of all the images she was portraying in my head.
Damn it! Shadow was standing just a couple of inches away from me! He would smell my arousal for sure. And did I have any explanation for why I was getting aroused in the middle of a practical?
’Aurora, you -’ I started, but before I could complete my sentence, I widened my eyes when I smelt it.
This chemical-
I looked up at Shadow and judging from his reaction, I knew he could smell it too.
The smell was coming from the storage room!
“Everyone, run out of the laboratory immediately!” Shadow shouted, and I looked around hurriedly.
