I zoomed the car through the tunnel, leaving the city and its people behind, riding straight into

the illusion of the forest world.

The tunnel stretched endlessly, lights flicking on as I passed, until finally, the automatic gate of the underground garage opened, and I drove in.

I parked among the others, but I didn’t rush to alight. My mind was still tangled with thoughts of her, the one I had glimpsed again at the conference hall that day.

I stared ahead into the blank darkness, the soft sound of rain falling around me. Normally, it would have brought a kind of peace, but tonight, it only mirrored my turmoil. She was the one. I could tell from the brief glance I’d stolen in the hall. Her presence burned into my mind.

Finally, I stepped out of the car and walked to the elevator. As it ascended, I tried to predict what would happen next, but my thoughts only scattered, refusing to settle.

The doors opened into my living room. I stepped out, shrugged off my jacket, and dropped it onto the sofa before making my way to my study.

I sat behind my desk and switched on the computer, pulling up the representative list for the human participants in the holiday charity event this year.

The screen glared back at me. Snowflakes Frost. Daughter of the Alpha of Mooncrest Pack. The profiler who helped solve a high–profile murder case years ago. Legally wedded wife of Ares Bani for four years. Twenty–two years old.

I swallowed hard, leaning back in my seat. Her smiling face stared back at me from the screen, and my pulse quickened. After that night, after I had kissed her, only one thing had remained the same. I wanted her. I wanted her again, even if only once. And now, as if the Moon Goddess herself approved, she would be my partner for the charity event.

My eyes roamed over her image, lingering on her lips, and I swallowed hard. Honestly, I had never wanted to deal with the charity or the holiday season.

I would normally spend this time in my bed, indulging in my hobbies, ignoring the world. But my father had been furious at Yenda for nearly being caught mishandling money, and as punishment, he had ordered that I personally oversee every cent Godlike Legal Empire was investing.

Yenda was furious but powerless; my father’s words were law. And the punishment? I would be the charity event coordinator, something I absolutely hated. Smiling, acting kind, playing the part.

I lowered my gaze from her picture, swallowing hard again. Her profile, her intelligence, her experience in solving murder cases, she was dangerous. Indulging with her would be more complicated than I had imagined.

I sighed quietly and rose from my seat, making my way to my bedroom. I began unbuttoning my shirt when my cellphone rang. Glancing at the screen, I saw it was Desmond.

I answered and put the call on speaker as I unbuckled my belt, preparing for a shower.

“Boss, I got a call from Mrs. Snowflakes Frost. She’s your partner for the holiday charity event,” Desmond said.

I paused. Of course, she would call. We were bound to meet eventually but why so soon?

I pulled off my shirt and walked to the bar counter, pouring myself a drink.

“Yes? ” I murmured.

“She requested an audience… a dinner. She said there are documents to sign and schedules to make. I’ve arranged someone to handle it if you prefer not to p>

“Fix it,” I cut him off sharply. Silence fell on the other end; Desmond was stunned. I didn’t give anyone that much attention. The only reason I attended the conference earlier was my father’s order. Otherwise, I’d have been in my room, lost in my own world.

“You don’t have to, Boss. We can handle it without you. Are you sure?” Desmond asked again, hesitant.

I narrowed my eyes. Desmond, my cousin, my business partner, my right hand in the Godlike Empire–knew better than to question my decision.

“I said fix it. I want to meet her. Tomorrow night. A restaurant suitable for someone like her. Rent the place entirely p>

I ended the call. Silence descended. Tomorrow, I would see her. Would she remember me? The kiss we shared that night?

Thinking about that night, I couldn’t help but She had seen my face, But I was not just any criminal. Cleaning a crime scene, leaving no trace, wiping everything tidy, that was my job. Even the most skilled investigators would find nothing linking Godlike to the scene.

I shrugged off the thought. What mattered was tomorrow. Her face. Her lips. She would be in front of me, and I needed to be ready.
