He searched my face, clearly aching to demand answers right now but duty was already pulling him back. He exhaled sharply, gave me one last long look, then guided me toward the entrance.
Before we stepped inside, I glanced over my shoulder.
Cupid’s car was still parked in the shadows of the lot. He hadn’t moved. Through the tinted glass I couldn’t see his face, but I knew he was watching. Always watching.
I sighed shaky, tired, and followed Eshan into H.O.W.L building.
Upstairs, Ossy J had already been rushed straight into interrogation, no delay, no paperwork stall.
The moment I walked into the Echo 8 office, the team rose almost as one. Sera, Mr. Gerald, Vast, everyone except Quince, who was missing.
