I had been to court often. I had stepped into those halls a few times before, but never, not once had I seen crowds like this p>
My car was guided through the throng; reporters and onlookers pressed close, flashes exploding like lightning.
I pulled up to the front entrance. Dove reached for her bag, ready to head to work. She gave me a small nod.
“Mom, I have to go. My team is waiting p>
“Sure. I’ll stay in court until the end p>
I stepped out with Mother and headed inside. In the hallway, a familiar voice called my name. I turned to see Eshan approaching.
He closed the distance quickly, bowing first to Mother.
“You’re here p>
“I am. How are you doing p>
“Good. You should go in. My dad is already seated in the front row p>
Mother nodded and continued inside. Eshan turned to me, chest rising and falling visibly. Our eyes met for one heart–stopping second, as though he were silently saying, This is it. Then he leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to my temple.
“Sir?” Vast’s voice cut through. “It’s starting p>
One last glance from Eshan, intense, steady then he turned away to do his job.
For a long moment, I stood frozen, wondering what would happen next. My phone rang.
It was Pinky Pie calling on video. She was in her condo; I could hear the news playing on her TV in the background.
“Snow… how do you think it will go down?” she asked, voice trembling.
I swallowed.
“Normal. Your man never loses a case, has he p>
“Not once.” She let out a shaky breath. “He won’t let me come home yet. I’ve wanted to arrive since last year, done with the gig since but he wants me to stay put until Feroz is gone p>
The realization hit me. Smart. Eshan knew Pinky was his greatest vulnerability. If she were caught, they could bend him however they wanted.
“He’ll be put away today without fail,” I said firmly. “Then you can come home. I miss you so much p>
“You have no idea.” She paused, gaze shifting to her screen. “He’s arrived p>
I lifted my eyes to the transport van that had just pulled up. The doors opened wide.

Feroz Alpha stepped out.
My heart lodged in my throat.

He had been held in H.O.W.L. all these days, only to be brought here today. Bound at the wrists and ankles, flanked by the men who had assaulted me alongside him.
Ares had given up their names, his ticket to save himself.
They were all chained, moved toward the courthouse steps while I watched, eyes tracking every movement. On Feroz’s face, there was no remorse. If anything, he looked… neutral. As though this were just another moment in his life.
“You should go in, Snow,” Pinky’s voice came through.
I nodded, even though she couldn’t see.
I disconnected and stepped quietly into the courtroom just as they did.
The High Court judge today was an older man. Stern, experienced. Feroz and his accomplices had no attorney. At the prosecution table sat vast and Eshan.
The front row on one side held the Frosts. My father, Grant had come, Kashi too, and Roc. On the opposite side sat my mother.
She had somehow managed to pull herself together for this. She looked terrified, worried for her son Feroz.
She had never felt sorry for me. Never worried. Never cared. And I knew why. She hated my father to her core, and I was another Mooncrest she despised.
Slowly, I made my way to a seat in the middle, clutching my purse tightly. I could feel every eye on me. The weight of it ached, lonely, cold.
How I wished Cupid were here. Perhaps then the chill wouldn’t cut so deep.
I blinked and then unexpectedly I felt it. Presence carrying light, something pure and gentle.
“Can I sit beside you p>
Slowly, I lifted my gaze. My heart caught in my throat.
I had never seen her in real life, but I had heard of her. I had read lines about her. She was the youngest and last child of the Godlike family. The princess of that pack, her parents‘ pride, Cupid’s heartbeat.
Beauty like hers existed, innocence like hers too but nothing matched the light Almira carried. She looked so much like her mother. Graceful, radiant, impossibly beautiful.
“Yes,” I whispered, shifting to make room.
She settled quietly beside me.
Words weren’t needed. Emotions spoke instead. I could feel her love, her acceptance, her quiet strength wrapping around me like a shield. Just having her there gave me a strength I hadn’t known I needed.
The session began.
