Calling in the Gafi gang was the smartest move right now. I knew the Godfather would be surrounded by layers of security, too many for me to take on alone.
I cut the boat’s engine a safe distance from the cruise ship, holding my breath as the massive vessel loomed ahead like a floating fortress.
Then I dove, plunging into the cold black water. When I surfaced, I was already gripping the lower railing.
With a powerful leap, my eyes flashed for a split second in the fading moonlight as I landed silently on the deck.
A security guard spotted me instantly but I was faster. I yanked the knife from my boot and slashed across his throat in one clean motion, catching his body before it hit the ground and lowering him silently.
I paused, nostrils flaring as I scented the air. Desmond’s familiar scent pulled me forward like a thread.
Voices drifted from somewhere ahead, but I ignored them, slipping through a shadowed hall with water still dripping from my clothes.
At last I stood before a door. I eased it open gently. There he was. Desmond, sprawled across the bed, fast asleep.
I approached slowly, fingers finding his pulse, steady, strong.
“Desmond?” I whispered, shaking his shoulder.
He stirred faintly, mumbled something incoherent, then drifted back under. Footsteps echoed suddenly from the corridor. I pulled back and melted into the shadows.
A security guard stepped inside, eyes scanning the room as though he sensed the intrusion.
He moved toward Desmond, leaned in to check his face, then turned slowly. His gaze landed right on me.
In a heartbeat he cocked his gun and leveled it at my chest.
‘Hands where I can see them!” he barked.
I raised them slowly, deliberately, just enough. Desmond’s eyes fluttered open behind the guard’s back. The man didn’t notice.
‘Move to the main cabin. Now!” the guard shouted.
I took a single step back, feigning compliance. That was all Desmond needed.
He surged forward, shoving the guard hard. The man stumbled, lost his balance, and crashed toward me. I positioned the knife perfectly, driving it deep into his heart as he fell.
He died instantly, body going limp. I yanked the blade free, wiped it quickly on his shirt, and tucked it back into my boot. When I looked up, Desmond was sitting bolt upright on the bed, horror etched across his face.
He looked utterly lost, confusion warring with shock. Explaining now would be useless.

“What happened to her?” Lasked.

1 got a call from Almira while I was heading to the snow house. I… I had to go get her. I left Yasmin in my car, but after Yenda…” He froze mid–sentence, jerking upright. “Cupid, Yenda tried to force himself on Almira p>
“I know,” I said grimly. “I was framed for it already p>
He went completely still, eyes widening. “That wasn’t the plan. The main plan was to kill you p>
I frowned, the words sinking in like ice.
He opened his mouth to say more but running footsteps thundered down the hall.
I rushed to the window just as gunshots cracked through the air. I grabbed Desmond’s hand, yanked him with me, and leaped.
We crashed through the lower deck’s window in a tangle of glass and limbs, rolling across the floor.
We scrambled toward the door but both of us froze at the same instant. Slowly, painfully slowly, we turned back toward the bed.
Almira lay there, curled tight, tears streaming down her face. She had stiffened at our violent entrance. When her eyes lifted and found mine, disbelief shattered across her features.
“Cupid?” Her voice broke on my name. She scrambled off the bed and launched herself at me, crashing into my chest in a fierce, desperate hug. “Cupid p>
She buried her face against me, sobbing uncontrollably. My arms wrapped around her instinctively, tenderly, holding her as though she might vanish if I let go.
The love I felt for this girl, my little sister in every way that mattered nearly undid me right there.
The door burst open. Guards stormed in, guns trained directly on me. Almira spun instantly, planting herself in front of me like a shield.
“To the main cabin,” one of them growled.
With no choice, I followed, Almira clinging to my side, guards flanking us.
We moved through the corridors until the grand doors of the main cabin swung wide. There they all were.
Alpha Ruis lounged on the plush couch beside Luna Sash. Beta Sky stood at the window, swirling wine in a glass. Rosella sat with Catherine and Lindy. Yenda leaned against the wall, smirking.
The moment I was shoved inside at gunpoint, every head turned. Alpha Ruis’s jaw clenched, fury flashing in his eyes as though I’d personally ruined his evening.
“I should have known you wouldn’t sit still,” he snarled. He snatched a gun from one of the guards and leveled it at my chest. “Good thing you came here yourself. Goodbye, son p>
His finger tightened on the trigger.
Almira threw herself in front of me again.

The doors flew open again, Gafi stormed in with his men, weapons raised. Snow was right behind him
Almira leaped up and ran straight to Snow, throwing herself into her arms.
Alpha Ruis turned to me, jaw locked tight. I stared straight back at him, every last shred of respect I’d ever held for ham burning away. He had finally shown his true face, cold, calculating, willing to murder his own blood.
