Chapter 27:
Alpha Christian’s POV
I watched my mother storm out of the room in anger. This is going to be war, but this time, I’m ready to fight for my life and my love.
I won’t let whatever happened last time repeat itself. There are still so many unanswered questions, and the more I think about it, the more I want answers. If only I had the ability to see things clearly back then, maybe I would have gotten the answers to all these questions. But now, even as an alpha, I find myself feeling helpless.
One thing I’m sure of is that Emily looks a lot like my Amira, and the connection I feel with her is the same one I felt with Amira—the mate bond that draws us together. I’m not sure if the bond exists because she looks like my Amira, but I feel it.
My only wish is for her to help my company so I can see her more often and get to know her better. Then, I’ll decide if she truly is Amira or not.
I heard a soft knock on the door, making me roll my eyes, wondering who it could be this time.
“Come in,” I said faintly, and the door opened almost immediately, revealing Adrian.
He had a worried look on his face, which only made me roll my eyes further. Ever since I caught him trying to assault my woman five years ago, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I haven’t forgiven him yet—not just yet. He touched my woman, so he doesn’t deserve to be forgiven.
“Greetings, Alpha,” he said.
“Have a seat,” I replied, my eyes closed, deliberately looking away from him.
“I would like to tell you something, Alpha p>
“This is something I can’t keep to myself anymore. The only way to free myself is to face you directly and tell you,” he said.
“Go ahead with whatever you have to say. I’ve got other things to do,” I replied curtly.

“Actually, Alpha…” He trailed off as the door burst open, and a panting Sheelah walked in.
“Why are you here?” she asked Adrian with a cold look. It had always been the look on her face—a cold, emotionless expression. At times, I couldn’t help but wonder what my mother actually saw in her.
“And why are you questioning my guest? Is that what you do now? Questioning my guest in my presence?” I asked, leaning back in my chair.
“I’m sorry, Alpha. I actually came to see you urgently and didn’t expect anyone else to be here. I’m just furious at the fact that I can’t even spend this little time with you,” Adrian replied.
“What exactly do you both want?” I asked, glancing between them.
“I came to check on you, Alpha. I’m just worried about your wellbeing. As your Gamma and close friend, it’s only normal for me to check up on you, see how you’re doing, and offer some words of encouragement,” he said.
“Would the words help the problem I’m currently facing p>
“It might not, but I wanted to tell you to cheer up and believe that you can revive the company no matter what. All it takes is just a little time, which may seem longer to you, but in the end, you’ll look back and see it was just a short time,” he said.
“Those words are good, and the advice is okay. I really appreciate it, but for reasons known only to me, I’d like to remain indoors for now. I want you to look after the pack until I’m done analyzing some things,” I said.
