I stared at my son, who didn’t flinch as Sheela left the study. He wasn’t moved by her in the slightest, which only proved that we still had a long way to go to make him fall for her. This wouldn’t be an easy task—if anything, it would be a difficult and bumpy ride.
“Apologize to her,” I said calmly.
“Why should I? All I did was state the truth. I see no reason to apologize,” he replied nonchalantly.
“You,” he said, addressing the guard standing behind me, “tell the elders to gather in the hall immediately for an emergency meeting p>
“Is everything okay?” I asked worriedly.
“I can only answer that after my meeting with them p>
“I guess I’ll have to be your Gamma until you find a new one. Someone like Adrian was never fit for the position. So, until we get someone qualified, let me help you out,” I said.
“Suit yourself, Mom,” he said, getting up.
“It’s good to have you back with us after such a long time, Alpha,” Sheela’s father said with a smile.
He was one of the most influential elders in the pack, which made his daughter the perfect choice for my son. He already knew exactly what needed to be discussed.
“Thanks for the warm welcome,” Christian replied, looking as cold as ever, the same way he always did when dealing with them.
“Actually, my Lord, we have been anticipating your return. Now that you are here, we can discuss something very important to you and the pack as a whole,” he said.
“Go ahead,” Christian responded almost immediately.
“It is about your marriage, my Lord. We believe it is time for you to take a mate and secure an heir. Having a Luna by your side would make your responsibilities easier and allow you to maintain balance between Matters of the pack and your human company,” Sheela’s father said in an enticing tone.

The rest of the elders nodded in approval.
“If you were all truly capable of maintaining balance between your families and the affairs of the pack, then you should have known that Gamma Adrian was stealing from the pack,” Christian said, his voice laced with irritation as he threw a book onto the floor in frustration.
Alpha Christian’s POV
I stared at the so-called elders in utter annoyance. They called themselves leaders, and I had assigned each of them to different departments, yet every single one of them was involved in managing the pack’s finances. I had set up this system to prevent confusion among us, but despite that, my Gamma had been stealing from the pack’s accounts, and none of them had noticed.
Now they had the audacity to speak to me about maintaining balance when they couldn’t even manage a balance between their own families and the pack’s affairs.
“Gamma Adrian did what?” my mother asked, her voice sharp as the elders began whispering among themselves.
