“My Lord, we had no idea this was happening. We are just as surprised as you are,” Sheela’s father said.
“No, I am the only one surprised here. You were all present while this was happening—it happened right under your noses, and not a single one of you noticed p>

“You all stole the money together. Every elder in this room knows exactly how the funds moved from the pack’s account into whatever private account you funneled them into. This was a coordinated effort from every single one of you,” I said coldly.

“Fine. If you all claim ignorance, then you will be responsible for finding the lost money. I don’t care how you do it—all I care about is that it gets done. Otherwise, you will all be severely punished p>
“Do we have an understanding?” I asked, my voice nearly a roar.
“Yes, my Lord,” they chorused in unison.
“Good. Our next meeting will only happen once every penny has been returned,” I said, walking out.
I knew for a fact that my mother was behind the topic of my mate being raised in the meeting. It was easy for her to manipulate the situation. Sheela’s father was an influential elder, and she knew the others would follow his lead. But I was the Alpha. They were beneath me, and they would remain beneath me.
“Get back here, Christian! What do you mean Adrian took the pack’s—” she trailed off, colliding into me as I suddenly stopped.
“You’re here, Amira,” I said, staring at the furious woman before me.
“Tell her to leave. I want to have a word with you,” she said, her expression unreadable.

“I’m leaving now, but I’ll be back for you soon. You need to explain every damn thing that happened,” she said before walking away.
“Amira,” I called, but her response was a slap.
She had put all her strength into it—I felt the sting immediately.
“How dare you?” she demanded, hitting my chest in anger.
“How dare me what?” I asked, grabbing her wrists as she pushed against me.
“Why on earth would you tell Mr. Mico that I’m Amira? Are you trying to make my life miserable p>
“Mr. Mico and his son are the only people who have ever considered me family, and now you’re willing to destroy that little bond I cherish—all because of some old feelings that I expected you to have gotten over by now,” she said.
“They might be old to you, but they are still very much alive in my heart. Hate me all you want, but the love I have for you will keep driving me crazy, and I’m ready to go crazy for you p>
