Chapter 99:
“My Lord, Luna Vivienne is here to see you,” one of the guards said, interrupting my thoughts.
I wondered what the problem was this time, but I was sure it had to do with Emily. “Let her in,” I said, making him leave immediately.
“Good morning, Mr. Mico,” she said, a fake smile plastered on her face.
“Vivienne, have a seat,” I offered, staring at her.
“I trust you’ve been well,” she said, looking around as if she were searching for a misplaced item.
“Obviously, I have. So, what do I owe this visit for?” I asked, going straight to the point.
“I came here to discuss your daughter-in-law, Emily p>
“She is now my daughter. She has made her choice, so I choose to address her as my daughter, not as an in-law,” I corrected.
“I expected you to sever every tie with her when she chose Christian over your son, but you seem to be fine with it. You even came to the pack when Christian was about to propose to her p>
“Like I said, she is now my daughter, and it’s my duty as a father to share every memory with her, whether it’s a happy one or a sad one p>
“And I can’t ask her to move out of the mansion or take back any rights granted to her just because she made a decision that seemed right to her. I’m not that careless or heartless,” I said with a smile.
“That’s not being heartless? She doesn’t even have a family to begin with, and you aren’t even her father. So why would you treat her like your daughter when you aren’t even related? Or did you perhaps have an affair while you were with Anna?” she asked, referring to my late wife.
“I remember vividly that the only child Anna had for you went missing. So, how is that girl your daughter? Did you find her to be your missing daughter without telling anyone about it, or what?” she asked.

“Well, Vivienne, you are free to think whatever you want, but I won’t sit back and watch you reopen old wounds. Get yourself out of here. Whatever my relationship with Emily is, it’s absolutely none of your business,” I said, standing up.
“Tell Amira, that cursed girl, to stay away from my son and leave the mansion as soon as she can, or she won’t like what comes after this,” she said, getting up.
“She will remain there for as long as she wants to. Remember that,” I said, walking away.
Christian’s POV
After the confrontation with my mother, Amira and I finally left the mansion together and headed straight to the company. She was quiet throughout the drive.
I’m certain there’s more to all of this, though I don’t know what it is yet. But I’ll make sure to get to the bottom of it as soon as I can.
The way she spoke to my mom today shows that something isn’t right, but I don’t know how to ask her about it because of the issue with Sheela, who claims she’s pregnant with my child.
I’m worried about Amira. Even though it seemed like everything was settled between us after spending a passionate night together, I need to respect her boundaries and not push too hard. I’m not ready to lose her again.
She looks lost, even when she’s working. She clearly has something bothering her. Is it because my mom keeps calling her cursed at every opportunity?
