“She is your mate?” My voice came out a bit sharper than I intended. Sarah being Draken’s mate wasn’t something anyone expected.
The meat felt tasteless as I tried to swallow it down to eat something. But unfortunately, nothing could make me feel like eating.

Sarah was a kind woman who deserved the best. Draken had a good personality as well.
“I don’t know.” He grabbed the glass and chugged down the rest of the water. “She might have seen we had come across each other when we first arrived,” he said, his voice quiet.

He looked up, meeting my eyes. “Well, she has someone she likes p>
“What? I don’t think so. She said she wasn’t interested in dating now,” I said, narrowing my eyes. Sarah and Sean found their own peace, living in that farmhouse. Both siblings decided to stay there and not involve themselves in romantic partners.
But since it’s a matter of mate-bond and mate, they can’t ignore their significant others without proper explanation.
“Well, she has now,” he said with a bit of force in his tone, as if he was confident.
“I see,” I whispered. I had no idea what was happening with everyone outside. Sarah and Sean didn’t visit me after that fight.
“If this is the case, maybe you can just face her directly and deal with it properly. It will be hard for you if you continue to

I remembered Sarah introducing me to a regular customer who moved to the mountain when I was working there. Was he her boyfriend?
“What do you want now?” I asked, noticing the defeated expression on his face. People met their mates when they usually were teenagers or later. But both him and I met our mates much later than average.
Of course, realizing that life moves on with time being hurt more.

Draken chuckled, placing a chicken drumstick on my plate. “Aren’t you too worried about me whilst you can’t even eat properly? Don’t push yourself too hard p>
I noticed he was trying to avoid the conversation further and I respected it. It was his personal matter and he should think what he should do.
After finishing the meal, I decided to go for some fresh air. Candy wasn’t there to take me to the woods. The pain felt subtle at first, but the scar was deep and bleeding.
Just as I walked towards the garden, I noticed him-Sean-stopping his truck on the driveway to the Royal Storeroom.
I approached him, not sure why. Maybe just to talk. Sierra stayed behind, distant but attentive to my movements.
“Hey! Sean,” I called out.
He turned, his expression shifting to something relieved. “Your Highness. You are finally out.” He waved his hand cheerfully. “Are you feeling alright p>
I nodded a bit. “I need a favor,” I said, my voice quiet.
He closed the door of the truck and ran towards me. “Are you feeling alright? What can I do for you p>
I lifted my hand, showing the phone that Cassian owned. “Take me to this exact place where the picture was taken from p>
He glanced at the picture and narrowed his eyes. “This is my rose garden. You have been there p>
“Yes. Take me there. I don’t have Candy with me to go there p>
He stared at the phone screen for a few seconds before nodding. Yes. Just a minute. I need to deliver the groceries to the kitchen p>
I sat down on the bench. “Sure. I will be waiting here p>
He took a glance at Sierra, who stood right behind me with her protective mood, and then turned towards his truck.
I watched him take out baskets of fresh vegetables and meat. Wearing a tank top and a cowboy hat, he looked more tanned than I remembered.
“Should I bring something to drink?” Sierra asked softly.
I shook my head, watching Sean work. Maybe I could ask him about the scent I constantly got whenever I had a vision. Cassian’s scent was musky, a hint of strong floral scent that I couldn’t name. Just enough to understand that his scent was too dominant to ignore. But that tiny hint of floral scent got stronger whenever I had that vision of Candy standing next to a small pond.
What if I could trace that scent? Sean was an expert on flowers and scents. I might have a clue.
“You shouldn’t sit under this sun directly p>
My attention snapped to Sean, who suddenly appeared before me and pressed his hat on my head. Then he retreated to his work.
“Your Highness! What are you doing?” Lorenzo walked towards me. His brows raised. “You should take some rest p>
“I am alright. What’s wrong?” I asked.
He held out a small pen drive and a journal. “There are a few recordings of His Majesty, just a few footages you can watch. And this is a journal from the Royal Psychiatrist. He said you will feel better if you write down your emotions p>

I stared at the leather journal with an embroidered bookmark. I held them.
“This is a gift from some of the Packs’ members across the region p>

He pointed towards the gate. My eyes widened in shock. There were piles of wrapped gifts, with small notes on them.
“Bring them to my room.” I said, stroking the cold leather. People had been sending lots of gifts to me. They didn’t hide their joy, wishing to have their King recovered soon.
Soon after, Sean returned and took me to his farmhouse. Sierra followed this time. She had been strictly following all the rules, including firing those servants who used to work with Carolyn and bad-mouthed me.
Just as the truck entered the farmhouse area, a sudden blow of wind hit my face. With that wind, there was that scent-not thick, not easily noticeable, just there, like a hidden ingredient unable to trace. My eyes blurred, and I forced myself to close them.
That was when I felt it. The shift in the air.
I flew open my eyes, and this time I wasn’t standing at a distance I was standing right in front of me, with Candy who was licking my face… or should I say my future self?
“Is it us? Why are we all wet and unconscious?” Rye asked, noticing the same clothes we were wearing right now. “Is it happening today?” She hissed, a sharp pain hitting the back of my head.
“Your Highness, are you okay? Please breathe!” Sierra’s voice came, making me snap.
A sharp and heavy breath escaped my chest when I opened my eyes.
“Are you alright?” Sean’s voice came with concern. “We are almost here. Please wait p>
I stared at my clothes, dry and perfect. Then why did I see myself drowning and having Candy there by my side?
And why would that scent trigger my power anytime? What was the scent from the beginning?
“Seems like something will happen today,” Rye whispered, sensing danger.
