Selena had been enjoying her coffee. The morning was bright and clear. The sky stretched blue, adorned with soft clusters of white clouds. Sunlight spilled across part of the balcony, offering a gentle warmth.

Hans was the driver assigned by Erick to accommodate Selena’s and Eli’s needs-especially Eli’s. He drove the girl to and from school, though at times Selena also had him take her wherever she pleased.
“What does he want to say?” Selena looked at the man with a faint smile, shifting her posture slightly. And for some reason, her intuition whispered that this had something to do with the Miller family.
“I’m delivering a message from Mr. and Mrs. Miller, addressed to you, Mrs. Selena Ward,” Hans said, fixing his gaze on her. “They would like to meet you and Miss Eli at Hwang Nampion Restaurant in the Street Hall West area. The meeting is scheduled for three hours from now. I’ve been instructed to drive you there and ensure you arrive on time p>
Selena’s lips curved into a satisfied smile. Her intuition had been right. “Very well. Inform Mr. and Mrs. Miller that I’ll be getting ready. I don’t think it will take long p>

Not long after, Hans took his leave. He had delivered his employer’s message clearly. Despite the doubts stirring in his heart-his disbelief at the news still lingering-the atmosphere at the Miller family’s main residence had undeniably grown tense.
Hans could only hope the Miller family would weather this well. Having served them for many years, he knew their temperaments all too well. And to him, the arrival of Selena and Eli felt thick with drama.
Meanwhile, Selena made no attempt to hide the delight filling her heart. She had known the Millers would contact her sooner or later-she just hadn’t expected it to be this soon.

Silvia, who had been tidying up the kitchen, hurried over. “Um… I’m not sure, Mrs. Selena p>
“Call her,” Selena said with a click of her tongue. “If she’s not in her room, she’s probably at the pool. You can check there.” She stood and headed toward her bedroom.

“She chooses to go out at a time like this…” Selena muttered, then paused. “But there’s nothing wrong with her being seen in public, is there? I’m sure plenty of people sympathize with her now p>
With that, she resumed walking toward her room. Before getting ready to attend the Miller family’s invitation, there was one thing she had to do first-send a message to Harold.
There was no reply from the man. It didn’t matter-Selena wasn’t concerned. What mattered was that Harold would carry out what she wanted as soon as possible. Because he was the only one who could.

Not long after, Eli appeared, her hair still wet, a thin towel draped around her shoulders. In her hand was a bag holding the damp clothes she’d worn while swimming. Her skin looked pale, her eyes puffy despite her efforts to hide it. She had just spent a short while swimming in the apartment’s private pool-the only place where she could breathe a little more freely, away from everyone’s gaze.
But her mother had already called her back.
The moment Selena saw Eli, the smile on her face vanished.
“Where have you been?” Selena’s voice was cold, laced with a clear threat.
Eli stopped in her tracks. Her body stiffened. “I… I was training in the pool for a school competition in two weeks,” she said, offering an excuse.

“If you hadn’t complained yesterday about hating how your face is everywhere, maybe I wouldn’t worry about you being in public like that. But didn’t you say you didn’t want attention?” Selena now stood right in front of Eli.
“There weren’t many people at the pool,” Eli replied softly. “And I was only out for a short while p>
Selena let out a short, humorless laugh. “A short while?” Her gaze dropped to Eli’s hair, still dripping with water. “Do you have any idea how many cameras might be watching you right now? How many people want to see you- photograph you-turn you into news all over again p>
