The private dining room wasn’t particularly large, but every corner radiated understated luxury. The dining table in the center was covered with a pristine white tablecloth that draped neatly almost to the floor. On top of it were polished silver cutlery and delicate porcelain plates trimmed with gold.
A small crystal vase filled with white peonies sat at the center of the table, adding an elegant touch without feeling excessive. The soft glow from the chandelier above reflected gently against the crystal glasses arranged neatly beside each setting.
Beside the table, tall windows overlooked the hotel’s perfectly landscaped garden. Sheer cream-colored curtains were half drawn, allowing the afternoon light to spill softly into the room, creating an atmosphere that felt both calm and exclusive.
Every detail in the room looked expensive and perfectly arranged-far too luxurious for what was supposed to be a quick lunch.
“Do you even know how much a single dish cost here?” Lydia finally asked.

Lydia shook her head in disbelief at his behavior today. It didn’t take long before a waiter arrived a few minutes later to take their orders. Once everything had been settled and the door closed again, the room fell quiet.

A few seconds later, he shifted again and gestured for Lydia to follow him toward the sofa in the main sitting area of the room. Though reluctant, Lydia couldn’t refuse when she saw the exhaustion he was no longer trying to hide.
She would be lying if she said she wasn’t worried about him. It wasn’t just his health either-his safety concerned her just as much. Cale’s temper was unpredictable, and the situation involving Daven, Althea, and Chase Miller had been draining for everyone involved.
Lydia hadn’t expected all those problems to be so deeply connected. Because of it, Cale had been incredibly busy handling everything. Not just Cale-Chris and Daven had been just as overwhelmed.

“Sit,” Cale ordered.
Lydia obeyed without thinking. She had barely settled onto the sofa when Cale lowered himself beside her and rested his head in her lap. Lydia went completely still.
She stared down at the man lying there as though it were the most natural thing in the world.

He didn’t respond, but his breathing gradually slowed. His eyes closed more comfortably, and before long Lydia realized that Cale had truly fallen asleep.
Among the three Miller brothers, Cale Miller was the most handsome. The second son, the one who handled most of TnC Group’s overseas affairs. He rarely returned to SunCity unless necessary.
His personality often made life difficult for the people around him. Many saw Cale as an intimidating man. But to Lydia, the man sleeping in her lap right now was simply… irritating.
Mischievous. Someone who seemed to enjoy provoking her anger. And yet beneath all of that, Cale was incredibly attentive and deeply caring. He valued the people he allowed into his life,
Lydia continued to massage his head gently-slow, soft movements filled with quiet affection-hoping he could finally get some proper rest. Even when their lunch was served, Lydia let him sleep. She didn’t want to disturb him. She barely even shifted her position, careful not to wake him.
Every now and then, Lydia studied Cale’s sleeping face.
“What exactly made me fall in love with you?” she murmured with a quiet laugh. “I’ve even forgotten. Maybe… because you’re handsome p>
