Gwyneth’s eyes landed on a well–cut dress shirt. She immediately thought how perfect it would look on Harrison with his broad shoulders and trim waist. Without hesitation, she shoved past Zachary and made a beeline for the display.
Zachary staggered back a step, the hopeful glimmer in his eyes snuffed out in an instant.
Gwyneth was about to grab the shirt, but Bella snatched it away first.
“ What a coincidence, Gwyneth,” Bella said with false sweetness. “We have the same taste. This would look perfect on Zachary p>
Gwyneth’s hand froze mid–reach. The shirt she’d admired moments ago now turned her stomach after Bella connected it with Zachary.
“ Anything that suits Zachary would be beneath my boyfriend,” Gwyneth said coolly. “Enjoy your find.” She turned on her heel and walked away.
Bella clenched her jaw, barely containing her fury in the public setting. Her eyes narrowed when she noticed Gwyneth eyeing another shirt.
She spun around and grabbed the shirt Gwyneth wanted. “This suits Zachary too p>
“Zachary, try this on.” Bella turned to Zachary, beaming as she thrust the shirt toward him. “My treat if it fits well p>
A soft chuckle escaped Gwyneth’s lips as she moved on to browse other racks.
Hearing the sound, Bella thought Gwyneth was mocking her on purpose, and she got mad. But her irritation quickly turned to smug satisfaction- she’d beaten Gwyneth to every pick so far.
“Go try it on,” Bella urged, smoothing the fabric before attempting to steer Zachary toward the fitting rooms.
But her gaze fell on the price tag, and her breath caught. ‘This simple shirt is that expensive, worth tens of thousands? No wonder Gwyneth mocked me earlier. I can’t afford it with my savings,‘ she thought.
Her face flushed. After a pause, she took the shirt back and forced a laugh. “I just held the shirt against your frame. This cut isn’t right for you. Let’s find something better. ”
“Excuse me, I’ll take that exact style in this size. Please wrap it up, and I’ll pay by card,” Gwyneth said to the shop assistant as Bella talked to Zachary.
Gwyneth smoothly extended her credit card, her lips curling in amusement as she watched Bella’s face fall.
Bella’s forced smile collapsed, her eyes flashing with anger. “ How strange you didn’t bring your boyfriend along, Gwyneth,” she sneered. “Won’t he think you’re being extravagant, buying a shirt that costs tens of thousands of dollars p>
Gwyneth laughed instead of getting angry. This shirt might be expensive, but Harrison ruined a shirt worth twice this much when he was searching for her cat.
Besides, her husband–in–name–only would hardly complain about her spending her own money on an apology gift.
She tilted her head, smiling brightly. “He never thinks I’m wasting money. Plus, not all women want to be lazy freeloaders like you. I can afford a shirt that’s worth tens of thousands if it looks good on him p>
Gwyneth accepted the shopping bag from the clerk, twirling her Rolls–Royce keys around her finger before strutting out with effortless grace.
Bella’s face turned even paler. If Gwyneth could afford a Rolls– Royce Cullinan, she definitely wasn’t short on cash for that expensive shirt.
